1st Grade Science
Animal Trait Inheritance and Variation
In this scope, students will learn young animals are very much, but not exactly like, their parents.
Bugs!-Activity
In this activity, students create and observe how offspring differ by incorporating various traits from both mother and father bugs.
Are You My Parents?-Activity
Students match animal babies to their parents based on their traits.
Plant Trait Inheritance and Variation
Students will learn plants are very much, but not exactly, like their parents.
Plant Babies- Activity
In this activity, students make a model showing traits that can appear in offspring.
Who Are My Parents?- Activity
In this activity, students observe images of plants and match offspring with parents.
2nd Grade Social Studies
Economic Concepts in Our Community
In this unit, students will learn how people barter to exchange goods and services as well as how money is used to buy and sell goods and services. They will come to understand the relationship of income, labor, and wages and describe personal cost-benefit analysis. Finally, students will learn the difference between consumption and production as they relate to goods and services within our region.

5th Grade Social Studies
Unit 4: The Change in Economic, Political and Social Rights of Individuals and Groups Over Time
Overview of Unit: In this unit students will learn about the cultural impact and changing roles among Native Americans, Immigrants, African Americans, and women from 1800-2000. They will apply this knowledge to present day situations dealing with inequality and civil rights.
Essential Questions:
● How have economic, political, and social rights of individuals and groups changed over time in the United States?
● How did the roles of Native Americans, Immigrants, African Americans, women, and others changed over time?
Enduring Understanding/Big Ideas:
● Analyzing how different groups of people struggled and changed throughout the 1800s-2000.
● Describing the economic, political, and social rights of individuals and groups over time.
