Good Vibes Only

In the spirit of New Year's resolutions, soda will no longer be an option in lunch deliveries (starting with February menus) nor in the vending machines.

We are not banning soda from our campus, however we do not feel good about Soundview providing that choice.

Sure it's sweet and bubbly but it actually makes kids the opposite which can impact their afternoon class performance.

We hope you are happy about this idea but if you'd like to discuss further, please contact Mr. Curley via e-mail: tcurley@soundviewprep.org

As the college decision season continues, we are pleased to see many of our students being accepted into their top choices. Acceptances are still ongoing, so be on the lookout for a list of colleges as soon as our Seniors make their decisions in the upcoming weeks.

Seniors and Parents: Please continue to monitor the college portals to be sure all of your information is submitted and processed and let me know if there are any issues as they arise: jgamage@soundviewprep.org.

Juniors, Sophomores, and Parents: Look for an email from Mr. Gamage soon about setting up a college advisory meeting, during which we will go over the college search and application process. Juniors will focus on upcoming SAT testing dates and the college search process using Naviance. Sophomores will go over the long-range calendar and use Naviance and other tools to explore possible career paths. The meetings will happen during January and February.

Looking forward to a wonderful and productive New Year!

Weather Report

Soundview follows the Yorktown School District’s decisions regarding school closings and delayed openings. This means that, when Yorktown cancels, Soundview will also cancel. When Yorktown calls any delay, we will call a 2 hour delay. At times, we may cancel or delay school in cases when Yorktown does not, if it impacts another big area where students live.

If inclement weather or other unforeseen event forces the school to close for a day a notification will be sent via email, text, and/or phone call.

There are a number of ways to get the latest information on delays and closings:

  • Visit our web site’s home page. Closings and delays will pop up when they are happening

  • Delayed Openings/Closures will be posted to Soundview's Facebook page

  • Listen to FM station WHUD 100.7

  • Watch NY Local channel 12

*Please remember a school delay may turn into a school closure if the weather conditions do not improve.

If you do not have a copy of the student directory, please email pa@soundviewprep.org.

This way if a delayed open or early dismissal impacts your normal busing, you may be able to carpool with other families nearby.

Parents' Association

If you'd like to learn about how you can get involved with the PA (committees, sending ideas for future events and more), we'd love to hear from you. Please email pa@soundviewprep.org

We are appreciative of your time and talent, whether it's in person or remote. It takes a village, and you are welcome to participate however you can.

Soundview Preparatory School
