Grand Forks Central High School - May 1, 2022
Central's Main Office (701)-746-2375
Road Closure Beginning May 2nd
We have just learned that a summer project replacing a portion of N. 4th Street will start earlier than originally scheduled. Starting Monday, May 2, N. 4th Street in front of Grand Forks Central High School will be closed to thru traffic. Vehicles will not have access to the main door (Door #1 ) on N. 4th Street for morning student drop off or afternoon pick up for the remainder of this school year. For this reason, please see the following adjustments to the drop off and pick up zones for parents and buses.
PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP - TWO OPTIONS:
Parents can drop off and pick up students in front of city hall on N. 4th Street. Students will walk to Door #1 from this drop off location.
Parents can only exit N. 4th Street by heading east on 2nd Avenue N. toward N. 3rd Street. Please do not use the parking lot between GFC and city hall as a drop off site.
Parents can drop off and pick up students in the 100 block N. 5th Street near the GFC Fine Arts Addition (Door #6). Students will enter school through the fine arts doors (Door #6).
BUS DROP OFF AND PICK UP:
All buses (Dietrich, Air Force Base, Manvel, and City Area Transit) will drop off and pick up students on N. 5th Street near the gym doors (Door #14).
Parents are asked to avoid this area, particularly at the end of the school day.
RAMP PARKING
Parking in the ramp will only be accessible by entering the ramp on N. 5th Street. Vehicles will still be able to exit the ramp on 1st Avenue North and head west.
Students who park in the ramp can enter the fine arts addition doors (Door #6) before 8am .

Verbs are the Key!
Many times our students report that when they are tested/assessed in classes or on standardized assessments (ACT), they report not being confident about what they are being asked to do to demonstrate their knowledge, despite the fact that they feel they are knowledgeable about the topic. Understanding the question or task is, at the core, about understanding the verbs being used in the question or or prompt. A goal at Grand Forks Central is to make the most commonly used verbs on assessments part of our daily practice and vernacular. We ask that parents support these efforts at home as they are able. Listed below are the verbs we have identified as those we will focus on to best prepare our students for success on assessments and in life.
