A stressor is something that you encounter on your day-to-day life that causes stress to your body. Not everyone has the same stressors in their life. Some stressors can have a stronger effect on someone than others. For example: many people in today's world feel like they do not have enough time in a day. This can lead to a person being run down and exhausted. Many times people with busy schedules have higher blood pressure than those who are not as busy. Why does this happen? stress can lead to things such as not eating right and not getting enough sleep; this can raise your blood pressure, which can lead to more serious complications down the road. Many times we look at stress and see it as a bad thing. However, there are types of good stress and types of bad stress. Good stress is the kind of stress that motivated us to achieve our goals in life. Many times people mistake good stress for bad stress. this is what can cause people to feel overloaded and cause anxiety. Bad stress can come at a time of emergency or loss. The loss of a loved one can be extremely hard for family members, and especially spouses. "Dying of a broken heart" is something that we hear when a person dies weeks apart from their spouse. The internal stress of the person they were so close to leaving them is too much for their body to handle.

Secondary Prevention: Take a walk, do yoga, take a bubble bath. Things you can do to your physical self to make yourself relax.

The truth is, you will never be able to get rid of all of your stress. stress is something that we all must learn to deal with. here are some tips to reduce the stress in your life.

1. "Make time for yourself" You can not keep giving to others if you yourself are empty. Take some time to meditate and reflect on who you are and what you believe. Confidence and self worth are a key part to your happiness.

2. "If it is not a priority, get rid of it" Many people hang on to things that stressing them out. Letting go of a certain volunteer position, or obligation to reduce your stress level is not a bad thing! It's not that you don't enjoy doing that specific thing, it just means that you need a break.

3. "Set a goal to work towards" many times if you have so many things going on at one time you loose sight of the things you want to achieve. Setting a specific goal allows you to focus on the tasks at hand rather than getting distracted.

4. "Be flexible" Things happen! Don't let something small impact you in a big way. The fear of not knowing is a fear that many people dwell over. Dwelling on something that may not happen is useless; if something does happen getting upset and worked up will almost always make it worse. go with the flow and take things as they come.
