Prom Activities
This week Vero Beach High School and Sebastian River High School are participating in Pre-Prom activities coordinated by SADD and DARE members within their school. One of the main events included a "Mock DUI" Students, accompanied by first responders in our county, presented to their peers the consequences of making the life changing decision to drink and drive as they acted out an alcohol related car accident complete with real-world rescue efforts. This was truly an intense, however, eye opening experience for our high school students. We hope that everyone safely and responsibly enjoys prom.

Pelican Island Elementary celebrated Earth Day on Friday 4/20 with the help of the Sebastian Rotary Club, Audubon Society, and The Learning Alliance and One More Generation. Sebastian Rotary Club donated 6 trees that were planted around campus, and Rotary volunteers assisted with planting these trees and leading activities for the students to participate in. The Audubon Society was on campus to set up activities, share information and lead students through environmental learning stations. The Learning Alliance dropped in on the Moonshot Rocket Bus complete with educational "Literature Centered" activities including a real-life mermaid who rested in her pool while she read stories to students. One More Generation presented valuable environmental information in the cafeteria focusing on nurturing a clean and healthy environment, and protecting our animals.

Middle Schools Complete "Kindness Challenge"
Storm Grove, Oslo, and Gifford Middle School have recently completed the Kindness Challenge. Sparked by the tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School, our middle schools entered the official "Kindness Challenge" where they planned and implemented kindness activities throughout their campuses. Some of the activities that the middle schools participated in were kindness car rallies, "pay it forward" activities, committing random acts of kindness, and painting kindness rocks to hide around campus.
Sebastian River Middle School challenged their students to complete "Random Acts of Kindness"
Students at Gifford Middle School welcome their peers on campus with a Kindness Car Rally.
Storm Grove Middle School painted "Kindness Rocks" and hid them on campus. If you find a rock, you must complete an act of kindness for someone else.
