For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
June 29, 2017
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
At their recent June 14, 2017 meeting, the Board of Education took action to finalize the 2017-2022 Strategic Plan and 2017-2018 (FY 18) Budget. The Strategic Plan, which was discussed in the last Focus, can be found at https://goo.gl/iev5u7. This document will guide the thinking and actions of Fulton Public Schools for the next five years. It is divided into core areas of Facilities and Infrastructure, Leaders and Teachers, Curriculum, Parental Engagement and Technology. Each area has specific goals and action steps to implement. The plan is reviewed annually and updated when appropriate.
The approved Budget is found at https://goo.gl/abveNG. It contains significant support information regarding budget development, revenue and expenditures by code, and a variety of comparative data. Perhaps the most informative information for a general understanding is contained on pages one through ten. The narrative and charts indicate the assumptions used for both revenue and expenditures. I will always find time to answer your budget questions or review any portion of the document with you. Please feel free to contact me.
Today, any communication would be incomplete without addressing the student hit by a car on Bluff Street on Wednesday. Obviously, an extremely unfortunate incident. As a District, we will continually stress personal safety to all students; however, most teenagers feel they are invincible. Please encourage your student to be aware of their surroundings and constantly look out for their own safety.
Thank you for sending us great students to work with!
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
