Dodgeball Tournament
Generation Texas
Generation Texas
Across campus students participated in a few guessing games. Students guessed which mascots belonged to which school. Can you guess which school the Mighty Artichoke represents? Staff members also provided fun facts from their college days and students had the opportunity to guess who they thought the facts were about! Students could also represent their favorite college shirts on Wednesday's and heard college songs and interesting facts during announcements.

Daughter Dance
Hello Parents!
On Friday, November 15th from 6:00-8:30 PM in the Cafeteria, the HGMS Counseling Office hosted our first ever Daughter Date for all Garcia girls to bring a special adult to spend some quality time!
Students and their special someone had opportunities to spend quality time together playing games, dancing, going to our photo booths, making crafts and eating! We'd love to hear from you what you thought about the evening and how we can make this evening even more successful next time!
Thank you to all those who donated and helped us provide such a memorable evening!

November 13th- Course Selection Night
This event was an opportunity for incoming 6th grade students to walk around campus, meet teachers, learn about electives and hear from different departments (such as gifted and talented, special education, 504 and advanced academics).
December 9th and 10th- Transition Camp
We hosted all of our feeder elementary campus for two days of fun and exploring middle school life at Garcia Middle School! Students heard from their future counselors/administrators, had the opportunity to walk through elective classrooms and ate lunch with current 6th grade students!

Middle School to High School Transition
Self-Care During the Holiday Season
The holidays are also packed with fun activities, but can be busy and make us feel tired. Self-care is the practice and action to improve one's own health. Self-care is vital and not selfish. We must first put on our own oxygen masks to be able to assist others.
Wondering where to start? Start by coming up with a list of things you love to do! For example, maybe you love listening to music, going for a walk or taking a bath! All of these are great ways to take care of yourself and cope with harder situations. Over the break, take some time to sit with family and come up with your own self care plans! It's important to help teach and model how to take breaks and time to rejuvenate.
We hope you enjoy your break!
