Happy Holidays From Galway Jr/Sr High School!

All Galway Varsity Fall Sports Teams Earn NYSPHAA Scholar Athlete Status

It is with great pride that the Athletic Department is pleased to announce that all of our Fall Varsity sports teams qualified as New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHAA) Scholar Athlete Teams.

The NYSPHSAA honors student athletes who excel in the classroom with this distinction. In order to qualify for this award, the student athletes of each team must have a combined cumulative average of 90% or higher. The school will receive a certificate celebrating these accomplishments, and each student athlete will receive a pin to recognize their achievement.

The athletic program at Galway is founded on the principles that the playing field is indeed an extension of the classroom, and participation in interscholastic athletics is a privilege earned by being a good student and good citizen.

The Galway school community should be very proud of this group of young men and women who have demonstrated, through their achievement, their dedication to these guiding principles. Our sincere congratulations goes out to

  • Boys and Girls Soccer Teams
  • Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams,
  • Volleyball Team, and
  • Golf Team.

In addition, a thanks is in order to the coaches, parents, volunteers, and community members who make our sports programs possible.

Looking forward to the winter and spring seasons, the achievement of our fall athletes means our district is eligible for NYSPHSAA’s prestigious Scholar Athlete/Team “School of Achievement” award, which is given to schools who have all their teams qualify for all three sports seasons of the school year.

What Matters To Teens: Student Senate Members Share Important Issues and Concerns with Local Law Enforcement

On November 17, 2015, members of Student Senate accompanied Mr. Healey to Saratoga County's Teen Safety Advisory Committee. Co-hosted by the Saratoga County Sheriff and Youth Bureau Office, the Teen Safety Advisory Committee provides an opportunity for juniors and seniors to discuss issues they are seeing and dealing with in their schools.

8th Grade Students Give Back To The Galway Community

Mrs. Kinne and Mrs. Brewster's classes decided that they want to help the Greater Galway Community Basket fund this year. Students learned that this organization helped families in need during the holiday season.

After their sewing unit in Family & Consumer Science, students volunteered their time to make pillows and hand/feet warmers from donated materials to be sold at the Elementary Craft Fair.

The students sold their goods at craft fair by working various shifts during the school day, and volunteering during their lunch period.

All of 8th graders' product sold out by the end of the school day. The money was turned over to the organization and the students were told that the donation would go towards buying milk and ice cream for all of the families. Everyone was proud of their efforts. Great job 8th graders!
