The Cheetah Coalition, #17

Weekly family newsletter from the Atkinson Office

Message from Ms. Essex

Happy New Year Atkinson Families!

I hope you have all had a fun break from school and that your students are rested and ready to return on Tuesday, January 3.

We are trying out a new newsletter format for the second half of the year. Our previous newsletters felt like they were getting a bit unwieldy for Constance to translate - so we are trying out Smore with the hope that folks can easily translate information into their preferred language as needed. You will continue to find all of the weekly information you need - but the office "FYI" will be linked separately. Please let us know how this new format works for you.

Update on Principal Position:

I have been offered the chance to remain at Atkinson through the end of the school year. I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with you and your children through June. In the spring, the principal position will be posted for permanent candidates to apply. There will, most likely, be an interview committee - so if you are interested in joining, please keep your eyes open for more information.

That's all the news for now! We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Beth Essex,

Interim Principal

Indiginous Student Affinity Group

The inaugural meeting of our indigenous student affinity group was a huge success! Ms. Murr, from the PPS Indian Education Services Department, (and an Atkinson parent!) brought a group of students together to learn more about their cultures. We look forward to Ms. Murr returning to Atkinson for more learning and fun!

Spirit Week!

Thank you families for helping and supporting your students during Spirit Week! We know it can take a household village to keep up with the right spirit day! Students had a good time and we enjoyed seeing all of the ways they showed their Cheetah Pride.

Counselor's Corner

For the rest of this school year, we will be highlighting an important theme each month.

Our theme for January is KINDNESS.

You can support us by discussing ways to be kind with your student and pointing out examples at home. Thank you!
