In addition, events in parenthesis are pending per SDUSD safety guidelines. Information about these events will be provided when we get closer to event dates.
Kindergarten Pre-Assessments
We are thrilled to welcome you to Kumeyaay and look forward to meeting you very soon.
Since your child is entering Kindergarten this year, please sign-up for a stress-free and fun Kindergarten assessment to assist with meaningful placement. These assessments will take place on August 23rd and 24th.Please select the flyer and sign-up link below for more information.
Kindergarten and New Student Orientation (updated safety information in bold)
We are pleased to offer in-person Kindergarten Orientation and New Student Tours on Friday, August 27th. The majority of Kindergarten Orientation and student tours will take place outside for safety. Please bring a mask for you and your student to wear while on campus.
TK / Kindergarten orientation will begin at 10:00 a.m. New student tours for grades 1st - 5th will begin at 10:40 a.m. Please see the schedule below.
10:00 a.m. - Kindergarten parent groups will meet outside in different areas of our campus by classroom teacher. Kindergarten rosters will be posted outside our office door on the day of orientation. Our office staff will be available to guide new parents to their orientation areas.
10:20 a.m. - Families will meet their child's teacher in their new classrooms for a brief introduction. Groups of 8 adults may enter the classrooms at one time.
10:40 a.m. - New families in grades 1st - 5th and Kindergarten families will be provided with a school tour.
11:00 a.m. - New families in grades 1st - 5th will meet in our lunch arbor for a brief opening meeting.
Safety - updated safety information in bold
- Proper ventilation will be provided in classrooms and indoor areas.
- Students will be socially distanced while indoors.
- Students will eat in their classroom cohorts.
- Frequent COVID testing for staff and students (optional for students)
- Students are encouraged to social distance at all times, especially while not wearing masks.
- Staff will be observant to remind students to wear their masks properly as necessary.
*Our families will be notified of any changes in our safety information as soon as possible.
*Thus far, masks are optional outside. If you would like your child to wear a mask outside, please talk to your child at home.
* Please talk to your child about the importance of wearing their masks correctly, over their mouth and nose.
School Bell Schedule
7:25 a.m. - 7:40 a.m. - Student drop off: Students, grades 1st - 5th, wait for their teacher in their lines on the blacktop. Kindergarten students may be taken directly to their classrooms.
7:40 a.m. - Warning bell
7:45 a.m. - School begins
2:10 p.m. - School dismisses on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
11:45 a.m. - School dismisses on Thursdays
What to Expect on the First Day of School - updated safety information in bold
First Day of School - Monday, August 30th: Drop-off (First day only)
7:25 - 7:40 Kindergarten: - Kindergarten families may enter campus to drop off their child at their Kindergarten classroom door.
7:25 - 7:40 1st - 5th Grades: First day only: All parents, of 1st - 5th graders, who would like to drop off their child at their classroom line may enter the blacktop through the parking lot gate. (Kindergarten parents only may enter through the main gate.) Classroom lines will be clearly marked by teacher name and room number on the blacktop. The front gate and back gate will be open for students only. Parents who drop-off on the blacktop may exit through the parking lot gate only. Please drop your child off at their classroom line, and say "good-bye" as soon as possible. Please do not wait to meet your child's teacher on the first day of school. Teachers will plan virtual parent meetings.
7:40 - Teachers in 1st - 5th grades will pick-up students from their classroom lines on the blacktop. (If your child is late to school, please bring them to the office.)
* Parents of students in grades 1st - 5th will remain off campus during drop-off after the first day of school. Parents of students in Kindergarten may continue to walk their child on campus for drop-off.
* COVID symptom checks are NO LONGER required at the gates for entry.
First Day of School - Monday, August 30th: Pick-up
2:10 - Kindergarten: Families are welcome to enter campus to pick up their student by their child's classroom.
2:10 - 1st - 5th Grades: Students will exit through our main gates and meet their families at a designated meeting place.

School lunches are FREE to ALL students with no application necessary.
