MACBETH ACT 5 SCENE 5
1979, Trevor Nunn Vs 2010, Rupert Gold
Both film versions were very related to the Book in many ways. But I think the 1979 version was more accurate to the book. Macbeth is suppose to be a king at this time in the play. In the Trevor Nunn version (1979) he looked like a royal king with the clothing he had on. In the Rupert Goold Version (2010) Macbeth looked as if he was a war lord, somewhat like Hitler. I liked the 2010 version better because it made me understand more about the story and how Macbeth did anything to takeover and abuse his power, kind of like Adolf Hitler .
A little bit more sorrow
One difference I noticed between the two versions was that Macbeth looked little sad when he seen his wife face in the 2010 Version. It was significant because in the other version Macbeth didn't see his wife face and he showed no emotion at all when they told him.
the setting
Another difference in Act 5, Scene 5, was the setting. In the 1979 version Macbeth was in a dark room, which was probably in the castle. It was significant because in the 2010 version, Macbeth look liked he was in a hall or some underground war bunker and you could hear bombs and guns going off and the background.
Fearless
In both versions of the movies Macbeth did not look worried. At this time in the play he was think that no man born out a woman can harm him. And it showed in both movies. I think the directors chose to represent these portions in the same way because they wanted to show how Macbeth attitude was at the end of the play.
