Leader In Me - Having a Gratitude Attitude
Written by: Anika Martinsen
Some people are worth melting for. This month is gratitude month. Gratitude means being thankful and filled with appreciation. A character that shows gratitude is Olaf. Olaf is always grateful for what he has. Thanksgiving goes along with gratitude. I challenge you to say thank you to 10 people this weekend!
Souper Bowl Canned Food Drive is a HUGE Success!
Written by: Tayla Palacio
Student Council's Canned Food Drive was a huge success this week! Before I tell you anymore, I should probably tell you what a canned food drive is. A canned food drive is where we donate food, or any supplies needed to the less fortunate. Auxier students donated over 1,800 non-perishable items and personal care products! The food/supplies brought to Auxier went to the Chandler Care Center to help CUSD families. This was a WIN-WIN program because not only were we helping families, but we could also earn a doughnut party for our class! The class with the most items donated got a doughnut party!

Auxier Students Participate in Sun Lakes' Rotary Veteran's Day Event
From the Health Office
It's that time of year when sniffles and sneezes can turn into flu and strep. When our students are sick, we want them to have time to rest and recover at home. This also benefits all Auxier students and staff as it reduces the possibility of spreading sickness to others. Please be mindful of your child's symptoms and follow the guidelines below to determine whether your child should attend school.

Hey Students...Nominate a Teacher for the Silver Apple Award!
From Channel 3TV - Arizona's Family
At Channel 3TV, Arizona’s Family, we value Arizona’s excellent educators. We can all remember a teacher who profoundly impacted our lives—a teacher who has gone above and beyond in their classroom to make a difference. To show our appreciation, we created the Silver Apple Award 20 years ago.
Each year, 8 Arizona teachers are hand-picked by a panel of judges from letters submitted by students across the Valley. Students share their stories of deserving teachers who inspire, and this year I want to invite your school to nominate your outstanding teachers!
If chosen, the winning teacher will receive a $1,000 check, a Silver Apple Award and a featured story to air during two 3TV newscasts.
Applying is simple and free! Visit https://www.azfamily.com/community/silver_apple and download the nomination form and official rules. The nomination form can also be found here: http://lmgcorporate.com/phxdigital/community/SilverAppleNominationForm.pdf.
To submit a nomination, students must write in 100 words or less, “Why this teacher is special." Finished nominations must then be faxed to (602) 207-3545 or mailed to:

5th Grade Field Trip to Heritage Festival
Did you know that there was a field trip last week? Fifth grade went to the Heritage Festival on Friday, November 15th. They learned about our history and they even saw a reenactment of a war! They had to go around and find different stations and learn how people back then had to live. They ground up coffee, looked at antique cups and plates, and even learned how to march! Fifth grade had a lot of fun!
6th Graders Experience Hermanas Conference
We were so lucky to have 13 sixth grade girls attend the annual Hermanas Conference at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. This one-day conference provides a supportive environment in which young women can interact with successful Latinas professionals in STEM careers and explore technological careers. This conference partnered with the Intel Corporation in order to plan a day of learning and fun activities that stimulate that interest in STEM. Over 150 students attended and participated in activities including science experiments, as well as personal and professional development workshops. The girls enjoyed this opportunity and made some new friendships as well!
