Paying for College Night - Monday, November 14th
“Paying for College - An Introduction to Financial Aid and the College Decision Process” will be held the evening of Monday, November 14th at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons.
This will be a one-hour presentation on how financial aid is determined, the financial aid application process, sources of financial support, borrowing, and private scholarships.
Audience participation is encouraged through polling and a Q&A to address broad questions about the process. The presenter will be Chris George, who is currently the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at St. Olaf College.

FAFSA is Now Open!
1. Login or create an account (FSA ID).
2. Gather personal documents, such as your social security number and tax records.
3. Start your application! (www.fafsa.gov).
4. Provide your basic personal information.
5. List up to 10 colleges or career schools.
6. Review your parent's or parents' information if you are a dependent student.
7. Provide your financial information.
8. Sign and submit the FAFSA form.

Raise.Me: Scholarships Starting Freshmen Year!
With Raise.me, students can guarantee scholarships from 200+ colleges as early as 9th grade, making it easier to plan financially for school. Raise.me has proven to be a great tool to motivate students in high schools throughout the U.S., as the site immediately rewards
students with scholarships for their hard work in and outside of high school.
As an example: ● Get an A in a course ($100 - $1,000) ● Get a B in a course ($50 - $600) ● Participate in a school club or sport ($25 - $250) ● And much more! These bite-sized scholarships are called “Micro-Scholarships”. When students add achievements to their Portfolio on Raise.me, they could be eligible to earn Micro-Scholarships towards our partner colleges.
Steps to get started:
2) Encourage your student to regularly add good grades, community service, extracurricular activities, and other achievements to his or her raise.me “Portfolio” to earn “Micro-Scholarships” from colleges.

Twin Cities Women in Construction Day 2022
The Northern Michigan University Construction Management program is pleased to announce the NMU Women in Construction Day, a one-day event presented by female professionals in the construction industry. This exciting hands-on career exploration event offers high school students a unique opportunity to discover and experience options that are traditionally viewed as male-oriented. NMU Women in Construction Day is free of charge, limited to 100 participants and is open to all genders.
Students will complete projects in a safe and well-supervised environment in the areas such as graphic technology, woodworking, leadership, trade opportunities and/or welding. Throughout the day, they will learn from, and interact with, dynamic women working in these areas who are volunteering their time.

Dakota County Technical College Transportation Showcase
Dakota County Technical College is proud to announce that they will be hosting their Transportation Showcase on Wednesday, November 16th from 8:30-1:30pm on the DCTC campus.
The Transportation Showcase is designed to create an environment where local business partners, college and high school educators, and current and potential students can interact face to face to generate greater interest in careers in the transportation industry. They have invited numerous industry partners to bring some of their coolest vehicles, equipment, and products to our campus to show off some of the new technologies that their graduates experience daily as technicians.
You are invited to see their campus, visit with faculty and current students, and tour their Automotive Technology, Auto body Collision, GM ASEP, Heavy Duty Truck, and Heavy Equipment Technology programs. Lunch will be provided. There will be raffles and giveaways throughout the event. These events give industry partners, current students, and prospective students a chance to network with each other and explore potential employment opportunities and career pathways.
Space is limited space for this event and they can only guarantee participation for the first 300 students to sign up.

Macalester Workshop Wednesday Recorded Sessions
Macalester College hosted a summer series to help students prepare for college applications. The workshops were designed for any student looking for motivation and inspiration as they begin the process (interest in Macalester is not required).

School Supplies Available for EVHS Students in Need
If your student needs supplies, please send them to the Counseling Office. We have supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, padlocks for gym lockers, pocket folders, graphing paper, index notecards and more. We also have new backpacks!

Park Nicollet's Growing Through Grief Support Group
Park Nicollet’s Growing Through Grief counselor, Jenny Simmonds, will be offering a weekly grief group for Eastview students who have experienced the death of a significant family member (parent, sibling, caregiver, etc.). If your teen is living with loss and you think they could benefit from participating in a grief group, please contact Molly Wellik at molly.wellik@district196.org and we will connect with your student regarding their interest.
