Grades 1-5 School Walk Through
Students in grades 1-5 are invited to take part in our school walk through on Wednesday, August 31st from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Feel free to come in and locate your new room. You can bring in your class supplies that day as well. Don’t forget to stick around for our Welcome Back Block Party.
Welcome Back Block Party
On Wednesday, August 31st, from 3-5 p.m. we will hold our first Malta Avenue Block Party. This event will allow students and families to spend time on our beautiful, fully renovated Malta Avenue campus. Students, family members, caretakers, and staff will have time to enjoy our playground, meet and play with their classmates, enjoy a hamburger or hot dog and have some sweet treats. We will also have games to play, a D.J. and raffles. One of our core values at Malta Avenue is community, so this will be our first event of the 2022-2023 school year to spend time building community with one another.
Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Thursday, September 1st. The program will run from approximately 10:00-11:00a.m. This is an opportunity for incoming kindergartners and their parents/caretakers to meet the kindergarten staff and see their classrooms. Students will spend some time with their teacher and will also have a short bus ride to learn the rules of the bus.
We want to make your child feel comfortable with the transition and to offer a fun, positive experience welcoming him/her to kindergarten.

Breakfast and Lunch
Free/ Reduced Meals: Breakfast and lunch for the 2022-23 school year is no longer free to all students. Any family who believes that their student/s may be eligible to receive free meals is required to apply using forms found on the district website here. Even if your family was eligible for free meals in past years, you must apply again this year.
Breakfast Plan: Breakfast will be served as “grab and go” each morning in the cafeteria beginning on the first day of school. Students who wish to have breakfast (either receiving free breakfast or paying for breakfast) will go directly to the cafeteria after getting off of the bus or being dropped off. They will pick up their grab and go meal and head to their classroom.
Student Pin Numbers: When purchasing meals from the cafeteria, students will be required to punch in their unique PIN number. Classroom teachers will provide these numbers to students. Incoming kindergarten students will receive these PINs at kindergarten orientation. We realize that our students have not had to use these PIN numbers in years, so we will have staff available to help them during meal time during the first days of school.
