What a Week!

What a fantastic first week! We could not have accomplished the reopening of Petrova without the support of families, teachers, students, and the SLCSD. We are thrilled to hear the sounds of our students filling our hallways and classrooms. This week the focus was on relationships and the new routines of the school. Our first P2 trait was "Other People Matter." This serves as the cornerstone and focus of our character education program, The Positivity Project.

We would like to thank our families for supporting our procedures during arrival and dismissal time. Some reminders as we move forward; If you are dropping off or picking up your child, please be prompt and ready to get them quickly and then leave campus immediately to help with traffic and crowding. Families should practice social distancing and wear a mask on school grounds.

We are also asking that every child come to school with a Health Screening Form EVERYDAY! Otherwise, they will need to wait to be seen and screened by the school nurse. We appreciate your support.

As always, please contact us with any questions via the office at 891-4221 or via DOJO.

See you next week!

The Positivity Project

We are excited to announce that the wait is finally over and P2 For Families is officially live! P2 Partner Schools told us that this resource would be a transformative way to connect P2 to students’ homes -- and we couldn’t agree more.

P2 for Families is an easy and effective way for families to discuss the importance of character strengths and positive relationships, especially during these unique times of virtual learning. It is differentiated for grades Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Each character strength follows a 1-1-3 model: 1 quote, 1 video, and 3 questions to drive conversations around character at home.

P2 for Families can be found as “drop-down” under our Resources page and as a direct link here:

Most pages are password protected and the password is: P2. *Please note that it is case sensitive and is simply a capital letter “P” and the number “2”.

September Dates

September 14-18th P2 Trait-Curiosity

Wednesday, September 16th--Remote Learning Day

September 18th-Wear YELLOW Day

We ask that students not come to school on the days they have appointments. We aren't allowing students to leave the building and/or return. If your child is in this situation, they will have to participate in remote learning for that day. Visitors are not allowed on campus at this time.

A Reminder From the Office

Please send in all permission slips and contact information to the office ASAP. The forms were sent in the welcome packets before school started.

Also, we recommend that your child has an extra mask in their backpack in a baggie in case they are in need of a new one. Please wash your child's mask after they have been worn and before they wear it again at school.

If you are in need of a thermometer, please let your child's teacher know and we can provide one for you.

Thank you!
