Family Reading Night-Feb. 22
- Reading teachers will come up with an activity for parents to do with their children. This should be something they can do at home.
- We will send home tips for reading with your child and a bookmark.
- Please have your idea ready and submitted to me by February 16.
DBQ Training
- Training will be done by the District SS Integrationist.
- This will be done during the last 45 minutes of CPC on January 30.
Reading
1/22- Poetry 4.4 -Students understand, make inferences and draw conclusions about the structure and elements of poetry and provide text evidence.
4.4 A Explain how the structural elements of poetry (rhyme, meter, stanza, line breaks) relate to form. (lyrical and free verse)
1/29- Persuasive and Media Literacy-
4.12 A Explain how an author uses language to present information to influence what the reader thinks or does.
4.14 Students use comprehension skills to analyze how words, images, graphics and sounds work together in various forms to impact meaning.
4.14 A explain the positive and negative impacts of advertisement techniques used in various genres of media to impact consumer behavior.

- Several events led to the annexation of Texas to the United States.
- The Constitution of 1845 established new laws and rules for the state of Texas.
- Immigrants came to Texas during the 1800s from many different countries.
- Disagreements between the United States and Mexico led to war in the mid-1800s. Political and economic differences can lead to conflict.
- When people feel forced to change, making changes becomes more difficult.
- People will fight to protect their beliefs and way of life.
- Winning a war may not resolve a conflict once and for all
