This week Mr. Wester, 6th & 8th grade History, teacher took his US History lesson about the Virginia and New Jersey plan could make sense to our learners. Students added notes to their interactive notebooks. The class took the fundamental concepts of each plan and applied them to a real life problem of voting for their favorite soda and the interpretation of voting results. Students quickly saw the connection that if following the Virginia Plan - large classes dictate the soda choice for all. They also saw that smaller classes would much prefer to follow the New Jersey plan as it works in their favor.
Lesson such as this go beyond memorizing a fact or timeline- it has created a memory that children will quickly recall when they face a question about the Virginia Plan or New Jersey Plan. More importantly this lesson had students think of which plan they agree with and have them justify their reason. Thanks to Mr. Wester and other teachers who are working to take learning deeper!!

Howdy Lobos! PSA is excited to introduce one of our Special Education (SPED) Inclusion teachers, Mr. Tyler Summers. Mr. Summers is an integral member of our Academic Support Team and provides inclusion support to our special population students that include SPED, English Language Learners (ELLS), and 504 students.
Mr. Summers was born, raised, and is currently living in his hometown of Krum, Texas. He graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and is certified grades 4-8, Special Education, and Educational Aide.
An aspect that Mrs. Summers loves about being an inclusion teacher is that he is able to work with all kids, of all grades, and with various needs. Each year, Mr. Summers’ educational goal is to support and build his students confidence in helping them find success each day. “I'm excited to see my students grow and achieve more than they ever thought possible.”
Something that you may not know about Mr. Summers, is that he used to be a Jailor at Denton County Sheriff's Department. His early ambition was to become a police officer, but unfortunately, working as a Jailor actually felt like being in jail itself and resulted in Mr. Summers deciding to pursue another path. Thankfully, this led Mr. Summers to a career in education.
In Mr. Summers’ free time, he loves to spend quality time with his family. Mr. Summers is married to his wonderful wife, Keeli, of nine years and they have three boys, Kane, Jace, and a boxer named Grizzly. On Sundays, Mr. Summers teaches children’s ministry at his local church.
PSA is proud to have Mr. Summers dedication and support to meet the needs of our students.
