HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 4 Friday 5 November
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Great advice about the way forward, I think.
Many of you by now would have seen images of just how much fun last Friday’s Numeracy Immersion morning turned out to be. All our children from Preprimary to Year Six enjoyed the activities from 9am until midday. Many thanks to our Numeracy Team Lachie Darby, Kaity Passmore and Fiona Ayling who made the preparations for the day - it was a fabulous opportunity to showcase numeracy right across our school!
Also last week, our Pre-Kindy 2022 Parent Information Evening was really well attended. Thank you to all parents for coming along and thank you to Jen and Iveta for making them so welcome. The 2022 booklet, now accessible using a QR code, also makes for much easier transmission of information!
Several tired children completed the Champion Lakes Triathlon today, many of whom were also in the Hale Connect Triathlon next door on Tuesday. Such fortitude! Congratulations to them all for engaging so enthusiastically, and to Rob, Julie and Sylvia for supporting them.
Have a great weekend.

Gastroenteritis
There have been a few cases recently in the school.
If your child has gastro, keep them away from school for 48 hours after vomiting and diarrhoea have stopped. If symptoms persist see your family doctor.,
Gastroenteritis or ‘gastro’ is a common condition in children of all ages. It occurs when the bowel is infected by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and sometimes, fever. Gastroenteritis, or ‘gastro’ is a common condition in children of all ages. It occurs when the bowel is infected by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and sometimes, fever.
Most cases in children are not serious, but it is very important to make sure that a child with gastro receives enough fluid.
The easiest way to prevent gastro is to make sure everyone in the family washes their hands regularly, especially before eating and after going to the toilet.

Grandparent's Lunch and Multicultural Day
On Friday 19th November 2021 we celebrate our Indigenous Australians, our multicultural roots, and our Grandparents at Holy Rosary. The day will begin with a performance in the gym from an Indigenous dance group from Wesley College at 9am for the whole school. This will be followed by the boys teaching and making Indigenous artwork with our Year two and Year four classes. We are excited for the opportunity to celebrate our shared Australian culture as well as our multicultural roots at Holy Rosary.
Grandparents are also invited to attend for our annual ‘Grandparent’s lunch’ with their grandchildren beginning at 1.05pm. We invite them to stay for a shared lunch with their grandchildren and to remain for part of the afternoon to see their classrooms and for the students to show them around the grounds. Triathlon
This week is also a very busy week for Triathlon at the school, having had the Hale Connect triathlon on Tuesday November2 and the upcoming Primary School Championships on November 5.
The squad did a fabulous job at Hale, with everyone going flat out to achieve their personal best. A good example was Ed McLean who stormed away with the Year 6 event. Many other competitors also impressed.
It was also fabulous to see Mrs Catherall, team Siena and Mr Darby helping Marlee compete. The look of sheer joy on her face made everyone’s day and it was a sight to see.
I would like to thank Mike Thacker, Ashleigh Pedler, Ms Catherall and Mrs Ryan for their support of the program and we look forward to a great day at the Primary Championships on Friday.

I totally love them and always try to do them with my hands up in the air

My parent’s wedding anniversary is Xmas Eve and we always have a special celebration for breakfast or lunch which I really like
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Scarlett Johanssen - like she is in The Black Widow
What's your favourite zoo animal?
The monkeys - I never bore of watching them climb around, play and pick out each other’s fleas!
What was the last book you read?
The Secret Mantra - it’s by David Michie and he’s from Perth
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Cruise around the ocean on a luxury boat - I love being on the sea - it’s so relaxing
If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
Sticky hands and feet so I could climb up the walls and across the ceilings and hang upside down
