"Achieving Our Dreams through Education"
THIS WEEK
Old Man Winter
Old man Winter is enjoying himself this year. The snow and the cold is one of the thing I enjoy about Montana. Our staff meetings have been put on hold and we will probably not get to meet together until after our break. Our MBI homework will still be due when we do get together. :)
I went to watch basketball at Livingston Saturday night and the roads were very scary. I had to drive at speeds of 25 miles an hours in some stretches of the journey. A tour bus and a semi that passed me going very fast ended up in the ditch (everyone was ok). It just reminded me of the following.
"Winter in Montana."
Wake up earlier in order to drive slower. Drive slower so you can be safe. Leave home earlier to be on time. Dress warm (self-explanatory).
The Weather also reminded of me this local teaching:
Hinee' xax'ua i'tuuk. Batxapi'io baaanne'ewishe baape' xawiia ko'ouk. Ahpa'axhuulak baa'paxawiik heessaalah. Ahpaa'xhuuk haalah.
"All days are good. The bad days are in times of death and sickness. If stormy weather approaches, don't say it is a bad day, just say it is stormy weather."
Parent Teacher Conferences:
We had a good parent teacher conference turnout this passed week. We had a parent/guardian show up for 40% of our student body. 40% doesn't look impressive but it a great turnout considering the weather.
Time Clock Reminders
For all Classified Staff only. These 2 days are vacation days and are not paid. If you would like you may use Personal/Vacation Leave only. We are not approving any Sick Leave for these 2 days.

Bullying Definition
I have included the definition of bullying here because it is important for us as a staff to know what bullying is and isn't. Our school has adopted the definition that OPI has given. Notice that a conflict or disagreement between students is not the same as bullying. Also notice that not "being nice" does not equal bullying. Become aware of what it is and learn to recognize when it is happening and when it is not happening.

Social Studies Curriculum
Good morning,
I was asked to assist the District Curriculum Committee to evaluate a NEW K-5 social studies curriculum. Due to all the cancellation of school on Fridays, the committee is going to rotate curriculum, (3 publishing companies) to the schools in the district. I am looking for some teachers to evaluate and to try 1-3 lessons and help us determine the best curriculum for our district.
Administration delivered the books. The curriculum is in the staff lounge, along with evaluation sheets.
If you are interested, we have the opportunity to preview McGraw Hill till March 2nd; then, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt from March 2-March 16; finally, Pearson - My World March 16- April 6.
I was informed all three Social Studies K-12 Curriculum are aligned with National standards.
If you have additional questions let me know.
Thank you,
Aileen
Video Reflections
Please make sure and complete your classroom observations. digiCOACH is showing that only 6 out of the 17 classroom teachers has completed an observation. If you have already completed an observation let Mrs. Stevens know and we can trouble shoot on why your observation has not been recorded.
Grade Level meetings this week will be used to look over the observation data.
