Welcome to the Two New Assistant Principals at the Three Elementary Schools
Mrs. Stephanie Sumner
I am currently serving in my seventh year as the PK-4 Instructional Leader and Co-Principal at Charlotte Central School. I grew up on a dairy farm in West Haven, Vermont and had a truly rural Vermont K-8 educational experience in a two-room (sometimes 3) multi-age school. In this setting, I had early opportunities to be a teacher and a learner at the same time, which fueled my early passion for becoming an educator. I received my B.S in Elementary Education and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Vermont, an M.Ed. in Science Education through Vermont Science Initiative/Johnson State College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from St. Michael’s College. I was a member of the 2020 cohort of the Vermont School Leadership Project, sponsored by the Snelling Center for Government. I am most inspired by engaging with students and educators as they make new connections, tackle new challenges and share their gifts with classmates and teachers!
I live in Williston, Vermont with my husband Sandi, and our children Sadie (19) and Jack (15). Outside of work, I treasure spending time with my family, traveling, kayaking, listening to live music whenever possible, reading and working on puzzles.
A quote that has always resonated with me as an educator is from cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead ~ "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." I believe that we get to see this in action every day in our schools and classrooms.

Music and Family Dance at RMCS for Grades 2/3 & 4/5
Dear families of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders,
I am so excited to welcome you all back to our building for some evenings of dancing! As I included in previous newsletters, folk dances are a wonderful way to teach MANY musical skills like beat, rhythm, form and phrasing. They are also a wonderful way to teach social and emotional skills like working together, including everyone, adapting to the needs of others and respectfulness. Students will be demonstrating a selection of the dances that we have worked on throughout the year and then kids will invite families to join in the fun. This is an interactive performance! ALL are welcome to dance! This is not a seated “concert”. This evening is intended to be more of a “welcome back interactive music open house”. The kids and I will be leading the dances and ALL family members are encouraged to jump right in and join the dances. 2nd and 3rd Grades will be dancing Tuesday May 31 from 6:30-7:30. 4th and 5th Grades will be dancing Thursday May 26 from 6:30-7:30. We will meet in the gym at 6:30 where I will give a quick introduction of the plan. We will then get right into the dances! Kids and families do not need to stay the entire time, although you are welcome to! I will cycle through 4-5 dances and repeat them during the hour. If you can’t get there right at 6:30, don’t worry! You can arrive anytime during the hour and jump right into a dance! They are fun and easy to follow!
We hope to see you there!!!
Ms.Hilary
UPDATES INFO FOR GR 5 PARENT NIGHT- 5/24/22 at 6:00 pm
Dear 5th Grade Parents/Guardians,
It is with great excitement that we are writing this letter to welcome you to the Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School community. Our goal is to provide a warm, welcoming environment for you and your child during this important transition.
There will be a series of steps to introduce you and your child to all of the opportunities offered at the middle school. Our School Counselors, Matt Guyette and Yvette Amblo, will spend some time this spring visiting with your child at their elementary school. Some of our current 6th graders will also visit the elementary schools in May in order to speak about their middle school experiences and to answer questions. In early June, all 5th graders will visit the middle school to meet with 6th grade teachers, visit classrooms and tour the building.
We would also like to invite you to attend an In Person Parent/Guardian Orientation Night on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. in the FHTMS cafeteria. The purpose of this orientation is to introduce you to the opportunities our school has to offer and to answer any questions you may have regarding the curriculum and your child’s transition to the middle school. This meeting is intended for parents/guardians only.
School Counselor, Yvette Amblo, will be your primary contact for incoming 6th grade students. You can reach her by email at yamblo@sbchools.net, or by phone at (802) 652-7158.
For information regarding our World Language, Band, Chorus offerings please see: 5th Grade Band Chorus_WL 2022-2023 .pdf
