Principal's Message

Dear Terra Linda Families,

What an adventure this past week! And it was great to see so many families during Grab & Go today! We gave families the book we are reading for our PTC-sponsored One School One Book: The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

If you weren't able to come to school today, please stop by tomorrow or Monday between 8:00am and. 4:00pm so that you are ready to read the first set of pages Monday evening. You will receive a bookmark with your book that lists the pages to read each day. We will start reading the book as a school community on Monday, February 22!

We hope your family reads the book out loud together! It's a wonderful opportunity to engage in a story together and discuss what is happening. Watch for trivia questions posted on the Seesaw Wellness page! We will draw names from those who submit correct answers. Winners will get a prize. You can pick up prizes during Grab & Go the following week.

Check out the Seesaw Wellness page on Monday for a YouTube Link to a read aloud of the book if you prefer to listen to someone else read the story. We will also post the start time in the video for each set of pages.

All families are invited to join us on Zoom for our One School One Book Kick-Off Event on Monday at 6:30 pm. Mrs. Taefy-Cross, Mrs. Doughty, Mrs. Hefty, Ms. Klemens, Ms. Schroeder, Ms. Wick, and I will be on Zoom. We will provide a preview of the book and read the first set of pages out loud. We hope you join us!

Thank you for completing the Family Survey over the past few weeks. I realize that it was a difficult choice for many families. As we work to place students in classes for CDL or in-person hybrid, please know that I will do my best to keep as many students as possible with their current teacher.

For those who chose In-Person Hybrid: If there is anything you need me to keep in mind as we finalize classroom assignments, please email me at christina_batsell@beaverton.k12.or.us by Monday, March 1. While I cannot promise that I can grant all requests, I will do my best.

Thank you for continuing to support your child during Distance Learning.

With appreciation,

February Assembly: Rainbow of Kindness Day

We are celebrating Kindness in February (February 17 was Random Acts of Kindness Day) so we would like to build a Rainbow of Kindness during our assembly on Friday next week. Students in each grade are assigned a color (see the list below). Students are invited to wear as much of their assigned color as they can. All of their clothes could be the same color, or their shirt could have the color on it, or they could put a sticker on their shirt with their color or draw a star on their hand with a marker in their color. We hope everyone is able to participate in small or big ways. See you on Zoom on Friday - help us make a Rainbow of Kindness!

Library To Go Changes: No More Book Bus

We have found that the Outdoor Library on Wednesdays from 12:00-2:00pm is the best way for students to check out books. Therefore, we have decided to stop running the Book Bus.

You can still request books online using our Google Form or by reserving them through Destiny, our online library system. Requested books can be picked up during Grab & Go on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Have a special request? Send an email to Ms. Angela at angela_padilla@beaverton.k12.or.us

Check out the streamlined Library To Go Details here: https://www.smore.com/df0zw

Play & Connect with Friends: Now for K-5 Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays

On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, we invite students to sign into Zoom and have some social opportunities with their friends. Students from Sunset High School and ISB (The International School of Beaverton) host different activities. Terra Linda students can choose what they want to do. They can either participate in one of the planned activities offered by High School students, or they can go to a breakout room and chat with their friends. A Terra Linda staff member monitors the breakout rooms during each session.

We are opening up this opportunity to all Terra Linda students every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We have removed the grade level designation. We hope this offers more opportunities to spend time with friends!
