A Note From Ms. Hill
Dear Starr Families:
Starr Elementary had a great February! Members of the community are continuing to support us each and everyday. Here are three examples from February:
- Alison Zajdel, from the Stamm Koechlein Family Foundation visited Starr during Red Wagon Week. Starr received a grant from Stamm Koechlein Family Foundation that funds behavior rewards and crossfit.
- Officer, Tim Davis, from Richmond Police Department visits Starr regularly. He can be seen hanging out with kids during lunch, monitoring hallways, or teaching safety lessons.
- Vicki Sayne, Behavior Specialist from Richmond Community Schools, is an asset to the Starr Community. Mrs. Sayne spends her time in the building supporting students, staff, and teaching lessons about the brain.
Starr Elementary is so thankful to have so many great supports!

Starr Elementary needs help getting our third graders excited about IREAD 3 (March 16-17). We are asking for letters of encouragement for our third grade students. They need to know how PROUD we are of them, as these students are our FUTURE! Please show support my writing letters to our three classrooms of third grade students.
Letters can be mailed to Starr Elementary or dropped off at the front office. Thank you for supporting our Starr Community!

Social and Emotional Learning
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
At Starr Elementary School we embrace the SEL model because we know that a socially and emotionally balanced student goes hand in hand with an academically successful student.
