WOODGROVE HIGH SCHOOL
June 1, 2022
From the Principal's Desk...
Greetings, Wolverines.
As our school year ends, we certainly thank our students, parents, staff, and community members for their efforts to make the 2021-2022 school year a success. The year presented challenges; however, the school community navigated the turbulent waters together, and we’ve come to the end of the year in calmer circumstances and unified. We wish everyone the very best, especially our Seniors who will be transitioning to college, the workforce, or the military.
Our Seniors, in their final few weeks with us, have put forth tremendous efforts regarding their Senior Capstone projects. They’ve served in numerous internships in the community, built a patio in one of our courtyards, collected food and other necessities for families for the summer, performed community service projects, worked in our feeder middle and elementary schools, tutored underclassmen, and painted several murals in the school. Our Seniors’ many talents and hard work have been on display for the past week and it has been impressive.
Also, the last day for Seniors is Friday, June 3. The Senior Awards Ceremony will be Thursday, June 9, beginning at 9:30 AM. The Senior Panoramic Picture and the Senior Luncheon will follow the awards ceremony. The Senior Community Awards will be held Sunday, June 12, at 6 PM. Graduation is set for Friday, June 17, at 8 AM, in our stadium. Seniors must report to school by 6:30 AM. Please note that graduation will be live-streamed. Anyone with questions regarding Senior events should contact our Senior Class Sponsor, Ms. Brianne Allis at Brianne.Allis@lcps.org.
Thank you also to our exceptionally supportive parent groups. Many thanks to the PTSO, WMAA, and WWABC for organizing events for the school and coordinating volunteers. We could not do all we do without your assistance and help. We extend immense gratitude to the leadership of these organizations for their remarkable service. Thank you to the Presidents – Joan Vogelsang (PTSO), Anisa Beddow (WMAA), and Lisa Cammarota (WWABC) for their exemplary leadership over this past year.
Planning for the 2022-2023 school year is well underway. We will continue to post any new school information on our website through the summer. Please note that school will begin on Thursday, August 25. We will host our orientation on Tuesday, August 23, beginning at 1 PM - student schedules will be available on StudentVUE by that date. The building will be open for self-guided tours during orientation. Also, our Back-to-School Night will be Thursday, September 8, beginning at 7 PM.
In reflecting upon this year, I offer much appreciation to the faculty and staff for their tremendous efforts. Their commitment to the students and the Woodgrove community has a positive effect on many lives daily. The teachers and staff are truly dedicated and professional educators – it is a joy and honor to work with them.
Lastly, as this school year ends, I am very proud of Woodgrove, our students, staff, and community. I have no doubt that our school community will continue to thrive and be a school where all our students can be successful. We each play an important part in making that happen. May each of you have a safe and pleasant summer. Work, Honor, and Strive
