Important School Closure Update
Governor’s School Closure Mandate
Per the statewide school closure mandated by the Governor, all schools were required to be shut down effective 3/18. The most recent Governor’s order “Safer At Home” closes schools in the State through April 24. All schools are required to follow this order and any new orders could change this school closure to a later date. NOSD Fitness Center and gyms are also closed. The front vestibule will be unlocked for a pick-up during regular school hours, but all other doors will remain closed and locked. All schools are mandated to follow any new Governor’s orders before there is approval to return to school. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Learning Continues:
NOSD is looking at this event as an opportunity to emphasize that learning happens anytime, anywhere. We are leveraging technology creatively and working with online tools. NOSD teachers are working to provide online learning opportunities. In addition, activity bags for younger students in OES 4K- 2nd Grade are available in the OES enclosed front lobby area.
**A second set of learning activity bags for OES students in 1st & 2nd Grade, those students who work with Mrs. Olson (Mrs. Olson added math activities for each of her students for the next two weeks in their classroom bags), and those who work with Mrs. Haas will be available starting Tuesday, March 31. (Students in EC, 4K, & Kdg had all activities in the first bags that were already picked up.)
OMS and OHS staff are working with chromebook tools and Google classroom to set up opportunities to learn for all students. All classes should be accepted by the students. If they have not accepted a course or engaged in learning, families will be contacted by staff. Some staff have books and additional resources for OMS/OHS students in the enclosed front entry of each school. GET STARTED ON YOUR CLASSES AND HONOR DUE DATES when possible.
Meals for Children :
NOSD is providing a meal service program, eligible to all children in the district that are under 18 years of age. All children are eligible for free breakfast and lunch meals while school is closed related to COVID-19. Please review the communication letter to see specific details about the program and days of operation. We ask families to complete a weekly survey - meal request form - to help anticipate the number of meals to prepare for the subsequent week. This survey response is greatly appreciated, but not required to receive meals.

NOSD PTR Racine Danish Kringles and Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser Pickup Details:
We are planning on distributing the Little Caesars Pizza and Racine Kringle orders on April 1, 2020. We will be taking all necessary precautions including wearing gloves and having limited people involved in the sorting and delivery of the items to maintain social distancing. In an effort to protect all, we need all families to use the pick up/drop off lane at school and simply pull up near the doors of the new cafeteria. A PTR volunteer will come out to your vehicle and ask your name. We will then deliver the product directly to your vehicle and hand your order sheet to you. There will be no need for you to exit your vehicle. As in year’s past, we have extremely limited storage space at school so we need ALL families to pick up their products at school on April 1, 2020 between the hours of 2:30 and 5:30. THANK YOU for supporting the NOSD PTR!
Please check Facebook for most up to date information. If anyone has specific questions or concerns, please email nosdptr@nosd.edu. We are actively monitoring that email for any questions. Thank you for supporting the NOSD PTR!

NOSD Community Support Team
While this is an unprecedented time in our country, our District wants to provide support to students, staff, and our greater community. With this in mind, our District has put in place the “NOSD Community Support Team”. This team will be serving in a variety of ways to help address the needs in our community. With the use of school vans we have the ability to be able to deliver needed supplies and educational materials for our students, provide food pantry items, and facilitate deliveries to our senior citizens or families in need. Families can call any of our school offices and reference the “NOSD Community Support Team” or send an email to the address below:
