Update from AAPS & Chartwells Food Service
We are thrilled that so many students have opted for the free lunch program available to all students throughout the 2021-2022 school year. Remember this includes breakfast as well!! As a reminder we must provide milk to students with a fruit or vegetable. The USDA does not allow us to only serve milk alone so please encourage your students to grab a lunch or a milk/ fruit/veggie bag!
You may have noticed the posted menu changes frequently. This is due to issues along the supply chain that negatively impact the availability of many food items we serve. We apologize for the changing menu but we must be nimble and respond to what is available to us to serve, which can change with each delivery we receive. Here is a link to the Food Service page on the website where you can find menus, Free and Reduced Lunch applications and nutrition information. Continue to complete and submit Free and Reduced Lunch applications to be eligible for any related services.
We thank AAPS families for their patience as we make strides in hiring more food service staff for our schools during this time of nationwide labor shortages.
Thank you for supporting us in providing tasty and nutritious meals for your students!
Sincerely,
Jill Minnick, Assistant Superintendent, Finance and Operations
Liz Margolis, Executive Director, Student & School Safety
Victoria Davis, Manager, Chartwells

PTO News
I hope everyone is getting more settled into school routines. I’m still not always quite sure what day of the week it is, but we’re getting there. I am excited that fall is just around the corner! At Dicken, fall means the Dicken Dash and the Pumpkin Patch, and I’m thrilled that the PTO is able to help make both happen this year. Below you’ll see the first bit of info about the Dicken Dash. Look for Pumpkin Patch info in an email soon. We’ll be calling for lots of volunteer help and hope to see all of you at these two fun events.

THE DASH IS BACK!
We are excited to announce that the Dicken Dash, our annual run-a-thon fundraiser, is back this year and will be held on Friday, October 22 (typical schedule is 12-3pm). More details will follow over the coming weeks, but please Save-the-Date so you can help volunteer and/or cheer on our “Dashers” as they run laps and raise much needed funds for our school and PTO.
If you own a local business (or know someone who does) that might be interested in sponsoring the DickenDash, please reach out to the Dash Committee via email dickendash@gmail.com

Dicken Yard Signs for New Dicken Families:
- Have you seen all the "Home of a Dicken Dolphin" yard signs around the neighborhood? It's a fun way to show your Dicken community spirit and get your child excited for the upcoming school year, and see where fellow Dolphins live.
- If you weren't able to pick one up at the Meet and Greet on Thursday evening, we still have more available.
- Please reach out to Hallie Jewell (halliestover@gmail.com) and she will help coordinate a time for you to get your yard sign (while supplies last)!
