Gifted Magnet Program
Rise to the challenge; find where you belong.
Find your fit in the Gifted Magnet Program (GMP)
Elementary and Middle School GMP Locations
The District 11 Gifted Magnet Program fosters academic talent and provides social-emotional support in an immersive program housed at two elementary and two middle schools throughout the district.
In addition to gifted programming at quality neighborhood schools, we are moving two GMPs to two new schools for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Gifted Magnet Program will now be hosted by:
- Stratton Elementary
- Freedom Elementary
- Holmes Middle School
- Sabin Middle School
The GMP provides 3rd through 8th-grade students with gifted programming in all four core academic areas.
There are many Gifted and Talented Programming opportunities for elementary school students in District 11. A Gifted Resource Teacher supports the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted and high-ability students at each school. Please contact the school your child plans to attend to speak with the Gifted Resource Teacher to discover the opportunities available at your quality neighborhood school.
If your child has recently taken the CogAT assessment, please review the score report.
If your student has strong academic ability in reading and/or math (near the 90th percentile, consider the school choice option of the Gifted Magnet Program (GMP) at Stratton and Freedom elementary schools.

GMP is where you want to be
Gifted students find great satisfaction in the GMP as it has fast-paced, appropriately challenging, and meaningful learning activities in core academic areas.
Differentiated instruction allows students to exceed state content standards and experience faster pacing with content enrichment.
Teachers trained in gifted education, intentionally vary instruction by differentiating content, process, and product with students. Teachers help students develop time-management and stress-management skills.
Community service and leadership complement the Gifted Magnet Program at the elementary and middle school levels.
