Internet Safety for Parents
Learn how to be safe online
Keep your kids safe!
There are many ways you can protect your kids from bad things they may come across online. The best way to keep up is to keep current on with the technology and web services your child uses. "Friend" them on Facebook and pay attention to who their friends are. Always communicate clearly with your child about what they're posting and sending on the web. You should always have their passwords and usernames to every social media site they are on.
Keep yourself safe!
When you are purchasing items from online, be very aware of who you are giving your credit card number to. Always use familiar websites and never buy anything online using your credit card from a site that doesn't have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed. An icon of a padlock will appear, typically in the status bar. Go online regularly during the holiday season and look at electronic statements for your credit card, debit card, and checking accounts.
