Graduation Gowns, Caps, & Tassels

Dear Parents/Guardians:
We have received several questions regarding clothing for the 8th grade Silver Dollar
City trip on April 28 and Graduation on May 2. School rules apply to all school functions.
For Graduation - nice, clean clothes would be fine. The students will be wearing a gown
over their clothes during the ceremony, so there is really no need to spend a great deal of money for something that is going to be covered. Please do not wear hoodies under the gowns because they are too bulky. We strongly suggest flat shoes with heel straps, as it is difficult for students this age to manage heals and/or flip flops when walking up and down the stage steps. Please remember students will also be wearing a cap, which is difficult to keep on with large curls or “updos.” There is no party or dance at the school after graduation, so there is no need to be over-dressed. Most students wear dark jeans or nice pants with a dress shirt or a simple dress.
We will be discussing with the students closer to trip time regarding the weather and
appropriate attire for Silver Dollar City.
Please observe school dress code for both of these functions. If you have any questions,
please call 417-256-5239.
