Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Ortman and Mr. Murtha 1/29/2021
Valentine's Day Classroom Activities
Similar to other holiday-related classroom events that have been held to date during the 2020-2021 school year, we will need to uphold Central Bucks' Health and Safety Plan practices for upcoming Valentine's Day classroom events.
- Classroom Valentine's Day Activities will be held on Friday, February 12.
- Individual classrooms will coordinate activities that uphold Health and Safety Plan practices. This may include/involve virtual Valentines or another option that falls within Health and Safety Plan expectations. Your child's individual teacher will communicate anything specific you may need to know about their classroom events.
- Students will not be permitted to pass out "hard copy" cards to one another.
- Food celebrations are also, unfortunately, not permitted at this time.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support!
Mill Creek Directory Has Arrived!
You can access the directory through the link below. Please use the password that was emailed to families during the week of 1/18/2021 to fully open the directory after clicking on the link.
Kindness Continues to Spread at Mill Creek!
Additionally, one of our 1st Grade students, Ishaani T., took it upon herself to conduct a food drive in her neighborhood, which she then donated to Manna on Main in Lansdale. That's quite a collection haul, Ishaani!

HSA NEWS
- Thank you for participating in our first CB South Spirit Day! We are still accepting donations for our Mill Creek scholarship to deserving CB South Seniors who attended Mill Creek. Donations can be made either through Venmo @MillCreekHSA or by making a check out to "Mill Creek HSA" and sending it to the Mill Creek main office.
- There are still a few hard copies of the Mill Creek Student Directory available for $5. Payment can also be made through Venmo @MillCreekHSA or check payable to Mill Creek HSA.
- Due to the current circumstances, H&S is not soliciting the usual annual $25 in dues per student. However, H&S will continue to incur some expenses related to items such as yearbook, 6th grade promotion, Unami t-shirts for 6th grade students, and more, so we will gladly accept and appreciate any donations. If you would like to make a donation to H&S, please make the check out to "Mill Creek Home & School" and send in to the main office at Mill Creek. Thank you!

Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Please see our message at the top of the newsletter regarding guidelines for Valentine's Day classroom events. Considering this, I want to thank the Mill Creek students and families for all the adjustments you continue to make with our school activities as we work to uphold the Health and Safety Plan while still enjoying celebratory occasions in school. We have all become very creative and adaptable this year, and our students have led by example in doing this without any loss of enthusiasm.
Have a wonderful Friday and even better weekend!

From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
In the secondary world, today marks the end of the 2nd marking period, which means that we have reached the halfway point of the 2020-2021 school year. Can you believe it? This year has been quite a journey, and I am so proud of our students and staff for having made it to the halfway mark. The journey will continue, and we will also continue to navigate the challenges of the 2020-2021 school year, but our students, staff, and community have given me full confidence that the second half of the school year will be even more amazing than the first!
Keep working hard, pushing forward, supporting one another, and learning new things as we head into the second half, Mill Creek!
Mr. John C. Murtha
Assistant Principal

Instructional Spotlight - Ms. Aptacy, 2nd Grade
Social Emotional Learning and Second Step
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) themes students are focused on learning during the months of January and February are empathy and emotion management. Throughout the school year, we will be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect same and different feelings, and show compassion. Compassion involves saying kind words or doing something helpful to show you care how another person feels. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.
As a friendly reminder, parents may access the grade level home links to extend these conversations further at home. Below you will see how to access the digital HomeLink’s to further support you and your family. In order to access these resources, parents and/or guardians of students in grades K-5 can access the website, www.secondstep.org, create an account, and then enter the activation code below for the grade level your child is enrolled in. For parents and/or guardians of sixth graders, please access the website, www.parenteenconnect.org. Thank you for supporting your child in learning the skills that lead to success in school and in life.
