Be The Match is coming to campus!
Wednesday March 25th, 3-6pm in Aldom Lounge
Donor Registration Drive
Every four minutes, one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. That’s more than six people each hour, or 148 people each day. Patients are searching for a cure. It could be you.
Be The Match Registry® is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to creating an opportunity for all patients to receive the marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they need, when they need it.
Seventy percent of all patients who need a transplant don’t have a matched donor in their family. A patient’s likelihood of finding a matching donor on the Be The Match Registry is estimated to range from 76-97%, depending on race and ethnicity. Be the Match's donor and cord blood registries can only continue to grow if people continue to join the registry.
Wednesday March 25th is your chance to add yourself to this life saving registry. How do you add yourself you ask? It's as simple as a check swab. Have questions about the process or what it means to become a donor? Click the link below to get answers to FAQ.
