Salem CS Veterans Day Celebration

Flagpole Memorial "phase one"

Veterans Day 2020

Salem Community Schools would like to thank United States Military Veterans for their service and sacrifice to our country. We are pleased to open “phase one” of our Veterans Flagpole Memorial on Veterans Day 2020. We hope this Memorial respectfully honors Veterans from the Town of Salem, Washington County, the State of Indiana and all across the United States. One year from today we will have a Covid free, full community celebration and dedication of “phase two” of the Memorial for Veterans Day 2021.

A special thanks to Veterans Mr. Jack Mahuron and Mr. Bob Strange for their service to our country and participation in the Memorial Project. Thank you to Mr. Joe England and his hard working crew for the design and installation and the continued planning and work to still come on "phase two." . Thank you to our amazing students from Salem HS, Salem MS and Bradie Shrum Elementary for your support and participation in today’s ceremony.

Students of Salem Community Schools and Veterans

Students from Salem HS, Salem MS, and Bradie Shrum Elementary gather for photo after the Flag Raising Ceremony. Students assisted with raising flags for the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force, United States Coast Guard and P.O.W.'s. Our very talented MS musicians played Taps to honor Veterans all across our great country.
