Wenatchee Students Unmake a Bully with Video Public Service Announcements
Over the past seven years, Mike Feurstein (AKA Mr. Mike), an award-winning filmmaker has worked with thousands of students throughout the country, producing hundreds of anti-bullying and character-developing public service announcements (PSAs) based on the experiences of the students who participate. Through the DON'T WAIT to UnMake a Bully program, students learn and implement every aspect of the filmmaking process, including directing, acting, lighting, sound, makeup and more.
In its seventh year, Mr. Mike worked with students from Orchard and Foothills Middle Schools and Lincoln Elementary to produce PSAs that help in the stand against bullying.

Kennedy Catholic Parent Recognizes Panther Football Team for Sportsmanship
"I am the parent of a Kennedy Catholic football player, so of course, I was in attendance at last night's game. We won, which I’m very excited about. My joy is tempered a bit because your team had to lose on the scoreboard. I say 'on the scoreboard ' because on the field they gained a great deal of respect. After almost every play, even during the heat of the battle, your boys displayed exemplary sportsmanship. They were always there to offer a helping hand to whoever needed it to get off the turf, teammate or opponent. They would shake a hand or give a quick pat on the back for a good play. A true sign of great overall character and coaching. They are truly examples of what we as a country should more often strive for. I will be rooting for y’all next year until we meet at state then I have to ride with Kennedy."

Hats off to AVID
By Aïda Bound, "The Hat Lady," "Grandma"
Tuesday night AVID celebrated 15 years at Wenatchee High School. I have been bringing the Hat Project to many AVID classes for the past for the 3-4 years and have been providing hats for kids in the community for over 12 years. Many of the AVID students I work with received a hat when they were in elementary school. This year I volunteered with Mr. Higgins' freshmen and juniors. One of the AVID students in Mr. Higgins' class made a hat for superintendent Dr. Gordon (pictured). Three students in Ms. McLean's AVID class continue to make hats, even though I didn't actually work with their group this year.
About the Hat Project
The Hat Project is a community program started in 2008. We are inspired to do something for others by using our knitting, crocheting and craft skills. Hatmakers offer this service to children and those in need and are personally enriched through our endeavors. We serve public schools; Women Infants Children (WIC) Programs; Head Starts; CDI-Head Starts, (EPIC)-E. Wenatchee, Bridgeport, Brewster, Yakima, Kiwanis and YWCA of NCW Housing Programs.
YARN IS NEEDED and may be dropped off at Washington Trust Banks in Wenatchee—Northend and Southend and East Wenatchee!
