CHC's EdRev Expo - May 4, 2019
Now entering its 11th year, CHC’s EdRev Expo is the only event of its kind that brings together the whole community surrounding the 1 in 5 with learning and attention differences—students, parents, educators and professionals—to share experiences and make new connections. Education sessions, resources and consultations combined with a celebratory day at the ballpark make for an empowering day celebrating strengths.

Zero Waste Week
We are halfway through Zero Waste Week at Chartwell! Students have been working on their first waste audit and learning along the way what can really be recycled and how that works. During flex time, when landfill waste is weighed, homerooms are learning about everything from composting options to the dangers of microplastics. On Friday, we will determine which two homerooms created the least landfill waste and those students will be honored with delicious baked goods from Mr. Higashi!
Classrooms as already starting to take action! For example, Ms. Penn's group would like to write to local businesses to urge them to stop selling plastic, single-use bottles. And, Middle School homerooms have decided to organize a beach cleanup! On Thursday they will learn about watersheds and microplastics and on Friday will track the types and amounts they clean from a local beach.
We're proud of our Ocean Guardians and we're glad to see our community making great changes for the environment.
