Happy FRIDAY! :)

My email has now changed:

We will be taking our field trip on MONDAY @ 11:30 to Folly Theatre to watch a play titled Four Score & Seven Years Ago. We will be eating lunch when we return from school around 1 PM. It is highly recommended, but not required, that you send a snack for your child as we usually eat around 11. If you did not request a sack lunch from school, please send one with your student on Monday.

Please don't forget to sign and return grade cards!

Here's the link to our website:

Please have your child visit the website and use the Student Resource tab to review math skills, this can count toward math folder minutes.

Check out the Parent Resource tab for videos of myself in the Crestview refresh sessions!

This week we have been finishing up identifying firsthand and secondhand accounts in informational text. Students are able to compare and contrast firsthand and secondhand accounts of a similar event. End of unit test will be given on Wednesday.

Thursday we will begin Unit 5- Readers Analyze Structure to Enhance Meaning. Also on Thursday, Debbie Miller, a nationally known reading workshop specialist will be teaching a demo lesson in our classroom! This is going to be an amazing opportunity for both the students and I!

This week we worked on finding equivalent fractions using multiplication and division. We also began to compare and contrast fractions with unlike denominators.

Math Folder: Please work with your student every night to help improve their math fact fluency!! Remember they come home on Mondays and need to be returned on Fridays!

UPDATE! So far this semester Fun Friday has been very successful! Thank you for helping take part in your students school work. It is so important that students understand how crucial it is to complete their homework and to meet deadlines. These organizational skills will become even for more important in the coming years as they reach middle school and high school.

This week we continued to work on our Literary Essay. Students are finishing up and we should have everyone's posted on the Blog by the middle of next week! Check out the blog now to see some essays that have already been posted! :)

Literature Circles

We began literature circles this week. Readers have student directed discussions about their book and vocabulary. This is a great opportunity for students to be held accountable for what they are reading. The books that we started this week are Mr. Poppers Penguins, The Wringer, The Whipping Boy, and The Girl Who Scared away Sorrow.
Please don't hesitate to call or email if you have questions or concerns! I hope you enjoy the Newsletter!
