MAP Testing
During the week of January 21st and January 27th, we will be MAP testing. Students will take a reading and a math computerized test. Please be sure your child gets a good night's sleep. Always proud of our bearcats when they get to show what they know. Below is a Parent Guide to help understand scores generated from MAP testing. This MAP testing will show us the growth each student has made from fall to winter. Reports will be sent home after testing is completed.

Prevention Recommendations
Since hat/coat weather and flu season is fast approaching, here are some recommendations in dealing with some important health issues. Please discuss with your children the importance of washing their hands often. This will help in the reduction of illness at school and home. If your child is sick and coughing or sneezing, be sure to review the use of tissues and washing hands or hand sanitizer afterwards.
Head lice screenings in the home are recommended as part of routine personal hygiene and will help identify an early, treatable condition. If you identify that your child has lice, please treat as soon as possible. The child must be brought back to school by a parent when lice treatment is completed (usually by the next day). The child will be checked by school staff and cleared to return to the classroom or provide further assistance. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to maintain a healthy environment for learning. If you need any additional information, please contact the school nurse.

Attendance Matters
Our district is particularly committed to making sure that each student attends school regularly and on-time. Statewide, approximately 17% of our student body is chronically absent, meaning they miss 10% or more of the academic year. In Kentucky your student’s pathway to graduation, being in school regularly for instruction is a vital part of his/her success. Research shows that missing school for any reason (even excused absences, early dismissals, tardies, suspensions, etc.) can put a child at risk of falling behind as early as kindergarten. We are asking for your support in ensuring that your child arrives each day on time ready to learn. At White's Tower, we are commited to creating a welcoming and engaging school environment to support your student’s academic growth.
