Thursday Tips and Tidbits
Looking Forward to May and Summer!
While we still have loads of time left in April, and it's always a good idea to make the most of the month you're in, you will want to be sure that NOW, you start to plan out your May, June, and even July business. Having been with the companyI have experienced what happens when I don't plan ahead this time of year. For most of us as stylists and for lots of our customers, May and June are times of transition. School gets out, there are vacations, camps, new routines, etc... This transition can be seamless with a little advance planning. Here are some quick tips:
- Focus on front loading your May by having shows booked for the first 2 weeks. With Mother's Day on the 11th, it's a perfect reason for your hostesses to get a date on the books so that their friends can shop with fun and ease!
- Take your calendar today and block the dates you can't do shows. Take off vacation weeks, end of school parties, etc, and then come up with the dates that you can't work, and you'll come up with dates that DO work.
- THINK STRATEGICALLY. If your schedule changes because you have children and the subsequent end-of-year activities, don't assume that everyone out there is in the same boat. For many, schedules don't change with the end of May/June. Look to do your shows the last 2 weeks of May and first 2 weeks of June with people who are not affected by end-of-school activities. Empty-nesters, single girls, those who work in offices, etc. Another great group is moms who work full time. They still have to go to work and their infrastructure still remains the same.
- If you do have children who will be home for the summer, consider swapping caring for kids with a neighbor or friend or fellow stylist. Carve out some focused time for you to get some work done, and you will find that you can be extremely productive. You take the kids for one morning; she takes them for the next. The kids have a blast, you get some work done...it's a win-win!
- Finally, NO EXCUSES! Summer will be great if you say it's going to be great. Alternatively, summer will be slow if you say it's going to be slow. Be intentional with your time and the thoughts you put behind it. A positive outlook sure beats the alternative.
