Week 6 ROAR!

Happy Friday Waterbury Parents,

This week, I wanted to reiterate the reminder that Dr. Castillo and Ms. Relihan sent to all families in recent days:

As you know, we have been working to develop a district plan to transition to in-person learning in a way that meets state and local guidelines and maintains a safe environment. On Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00pm, we will present the Return to Learn Plan - PHASE 2. We encourage you to sign-up to attend this Special Board of Education Meeting virtually to learn more about the plan. After the meeting, we will also share the plan and presentation video with families and staff by email and on our district website.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Supply Pick up

As we ramp up our technology and use of digital resources, we are still asking that parents come Monday, 9.28. for material pick up. The time remains to be from 10 am to 5:30 pm. Please let your child’s teacher(s) know if you need schedule accommodations. If you receive communication from your child's teacher that they will not be providing materials on this day, then please do not feel the need to come on this day. We would hate for you to make a trip to school, if it is not necessary.
Big picture
Most students have finished taking the NWEA MAP test this week. There will be test make-ups on Monday and Wednesday of next week. More information will come from your child's teacher. Please click on the link below to see how you can help improve your child's score in reading by visiting some fun websites and by playing games together.

Spirit Week!

Just a reminder that Monday, September 28th, we will be having a BASEBALL Day! Wear either your White Sox gear or Cubbie blue! This will kick off a virtual Spirit Week, where every day we will be doing something different. Moving forward, we will be having DRESS UP FRIDAYS. Check out the calendar below for this week's events.

A Final Reminder From our Nurse's DEN

We are still waiting on some of your responses in order to keep your Wildcat compliant with grade-level requirements.

Grade K and transfer students who have not yet complied with the State of Illinois health mandates are required to submit proof of a physical exam and immunization records as soon as possible. Paperwork can be dropped off, faxed to (630) 539-2316, or scanned and emailed to the Waterbury nurse's office, lmontiel@esd20.org.

State of Illinois regulations require students to be in compliance or excluded from remote or in-person school beginning Thursday, October 15. Non-compliant students will have their access to remote learning blocked until these requirements have been met. Absences due to immunization and/or non-compliance are not excused.

If you have questions about what information is still needed

Please visit the district website (link below) or contact the Waterbury Nurse, Lisa Montiel via phone or email.

Our Parent Teacher Organization works all year round to benefit all of our children. Please come to any of our meetings this school year and consider volunteering. With your help, we will have another successful year at Waterbury!

This is not your Mother's Market Day!

The PTO is excited to announce that we are now partnered with Market Day for an easy and delicious fundraising experience! No more ordering once a month, no more having to go to school to pick up your order hoping everything is correct. Now easier than ever, order online any time you'd like and have your delicious meals delivered right to your door! This couldn't be any easier especially with having to be home for remote learning. The best part is that Waterbury PTO gets 10% of all sales so we can do even more for the kids throughout the year!!

Register for our school by searching our state, selecting an organization and then typing in "Waterbury Elementary School PTO" Be sure to share the link with your family and friends too! Just let them know to register with our school.

Lunch Program Info and Flyers

D20 is offering free breakfast and lunch to all children 18 and under through 12/31. Meals are distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at each school and throughout our community using school buses. Please visit Food Services for pick-up locations and times. No paperwork or eligibility is required currently, but we want to be sure that all qualifying students do not lose that status after 12/31. If your child may qualify, please complete an application by 10/1 to allow them to seamlessly continue this benefit after the new year.

In addition, families who qualify for free and reduced lunches may also qualify for free internet at home through a new partnership between the district and Comcast. If you qualify for free and reduced lunch, we can send you more information about the free internet program.

Warm Coat Project

As the weather turns cooler, we have a special thank you to the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club for their annual donation of warm coats. If your family is in need of a coat for your child, please let us know here by 10/2 so that we can distribute the coats.
