The Ely Happening
February, 2022
A Message From Mr. Easton
Dear Ely Families,
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm during this cold weather that we have been having lately. Please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather. If you ever need any assistance with clothing items please reach out to the front office and ask to speak with Mrs. Carreras (Community Engagement Liaison).
It is hard to believe that we are in the 3rd quarter of the 2021-2022 school year. In just a few months the snow will be melted (hopefully) and we will be getting ready for our many end of the year celebrations for this school year. Please remind your child that they should not be playing in the snow or throwing snow before school and or after school.
I want to take this time to thank our dedicated teachers and staff at Ely. Our teachers and staff have been putting in countless hours to help all of our students reach their goals. It has truly been an honor to work with such an amazing staff that is willing to do whatever it takes for our students at Ely.
Beginning Monday, January 31, 2022 students and staff will not be required to wear a mask at school. Please note that students are still required to wear a mask while on the bus. Please make sure to provide your child with a mask, if you wish for them to wear a mask during the school day.
Please make sure to continually check your child's progress on PowerSchool. If you need assistance with your password or login information, please contact the front office. Just as a reminder that later this month we will be having conferences. This will be a great time to talk about your child's progress during the course of the 2021-2022 school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child's grades please reach out to your child's teacher.
Thank you for your continued support for helping to make sure that this is an Amazing Year. As always I encourage you to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns.

School Mask Mandated to be Lifted
Elyria Schools will eliminate the mask requirements for students in all grades as of Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
Students will no longer be required to wear masks in school beginning Jan. 31 but they most certainly can continue to wear them if they desire.
Elyria Schools still adheres to other policies surrounding COVID-19, for example, masks are still required on busses, per the Centers for Disease Control.
If students display any signs of illness, they are asked to stay home. Also, any students who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 must remain out of school for five days from the day after the onset of symptoms, returning once their symptoms are improving and they have no fever.
Children ages five and up are now able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine if desired. For more information or to find locations of upcoming vaccine clinics, please visit Lorain County Public Health.
