Words, Words, Words: Making Sense of Vocabulary Instruction in the Primary Grades
Speaker: William Van Cleave
Research indicates that vocabulary is a key component of effective literacy instruction. In the morning portion of this workshop, participants learn what works-and what doesn’t work-in vocabulary instruction. They examine the role morphology plays in vocabulary, word decoding, and spelling and how instruction can benefit children. Participants leave this workshop not only with a framework for understanding vocabulary but hands-on activities they can immediately implement into their classroom or home.
This free session is open to parents, caretakers and educators. Participants must register. More information can be found here.
