Racism
-consider some races to be ranked as inherently superior
To Kill a Mockingbird
Racism is a major theme in this book. It is the driving force for almost the whole plot of this play. If not the community would have been more understanding, they would have found Tom Robinson to be innocent, instead of killing an innocent man. Racism might even be called the Ultimate Antagonist of this play, because this causes the Finch's the most trouble and the other people of Maycomb against it. Lee was very openly showing this because it was following along with the Scottsboro's trials
