Free Apps
Chirp
Chirp is a new way to share the digital stuff on an iOs or Android device using sound. Users can share photos, links, notes and more, all from the built-in iPhone speaker. Chirp lets anyone send information over the air to others running the app nearby. Chirp makes sharing information easy, so whether you’re a principal disseminating faculty memos or a teacher giving students the URL to a helpful Web site, Chirp can make it happen.
This app was shared during the #Smackdown session at EdCampMadison this weekend by NikKi Robertson, Hoover High School Librarian and Twitter Extraordinaire.

Whether you’re running your own business, planning an overseas adventure or sharing a shopping list with a loved one, Wunderlist is here to help you get things done. Wunderlist syncs across all your devices to keep you on top of all the things you want to do, from anywhere.

Math up to 100
This app was designed to help children to practice and improve their skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers up to 100. Starting with the most simple problems the difficulty gradually increases when the child makes progress. For a better learning experience the app keeps track of all incorrect answers and repeats those particular math problems more frequently. You can review where your math skills are weaker, this is especially great for parents who want to see where their child may need help and more practice.
Free Web Tools
Piktochart
Create free infographics to visualize your information. Infographics are being used by students to display the assignments, summaries or results of their projects. The process of an infographic creation tests their skills in sketching/planning, researching and distilling large amount of data, as well as graphic literacy. Their ultimate goal is to present a lot of complex information in an easy to read format.
Whereas teachers use them for syllabus and other communications in the classroom or outside of it (parent engagement, marketing/advertising).
Aww
A Web Whiteboard is touch-friendly online whiteboard app that lets you use your computer, tablet or smartphone to easily draw sketches, collaborate with others and share them with the world. No login, 3 menus with only the most basic of tools, you can master this in seconds.
Adventures of EdCamp!
This fun-filled day is totally FREE! Over 300 educators from all over the state and participants as far north as Kentucky, gave up their Saturday to share and learn with colleagues. I presented two sessions covering the use of apps and web tools to enhance common core literacy/language standards. Several sessions were presented by students which gave the audience the feel of how they use technology to learn. Attendance is limited by registration on a first come first serve basis. The next scheduled EdCamp is EdCampBham on April 26th, 2014 at Trace Crossing Elementary School in Hoover, AL. Visit http://edcamp.wikispaces.com/edcamp+Bham for more details.
