August has been a great start to the 2022-23 school year! We look forward to a year full of activities and achievements by our Kerr Tigers. See below for information about upcoming events, resources, and campus news to help you stay informed.

Progress reports were loaded on Friday, August 26th and are now viewable in your Home Access account. Paper copies of progress reports have been delivered to advisory teachers and students should be bringing them home by the end of the week.

Teacher names are included on the progress report and you are encouraged to reach out to them directly if you have any questions about your student's progress in their courses or you can contact your student's advisor and they will connect you with the right person.

All students and parents have a Home Access account where all student records can be accessed. The Home Access Center is available online or as an app. If you need assistance with your Home Access account, call the front office at 281-983-8484 and someone will assist you.

*Counselors are currently having individual senior conferences to go over transcripts, discuss post secondary plans, and ensure that senior year is planned out correctly. Seniors sign up for their preferred meeting time using the link provided in Schoology.

*Kerr's after school program is the home to club meetings, tutoring, and study sessions. This week has kicked off the program on campus and support is available for students every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoon. Late buses are available at 5:00pm.

*During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized spending that allowed schools to serve free meals for all students. Those funds are not authorized to continue for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, Alief ISD must return to charging for school meals and offering free and reduced-priced meals based on student eligibility. Eligibility also provides access to additional state and federal programs. *The Houston Food Bank partners with Kerr High School to offer services to families in need of assistance. Food and other personal items are available on campus for students by request. If your family is need of assistance, students can contact Ms. Curry or Ms. Bancroft.

Join members of the Kerr support staff on Wednesday, September 7th at 12:30 to learn more about how to support students and the resources available to families. Refreshments will be provided and the session will conclude at 1:30 in conjunction with student dismissal.

Our fall open house will be on Tuesday, September 27th at 6:30pm. This year's event will be hosted in person. Families can come to campus to meet teachers, ask questions of support staff, and see the building.

Financial Aid night is being hosted on campus on the same evening -- families of seniors won't want to miss the opportunity to hear from panelists and gain valuable information about the financial aid process.

We need your help! Our Shared Decision Making Committee and Family Engagement team are in need of family participation for campus decision making. If this is something that you are interested in, please email Ms. Tones at sara.tones@aliefisd.net

See the attached flyer for information from the Parris Foundation Educational Talent Search program. Representatives from the Parris Foundation visit campus to meet with students. Students can connect with them during lunches or by speaking with Mr. Gilbert in the library.
