It's Red Ribbon Week!

We are excited to continue with our students at school every day this week! It's also Red Ribbon Week, and we look forward to celebrating each day the joys of leading a drug-free life. Please see the poster below for how your child can participate. We look forward to a coloring contest for K-2nd graders and an essay contest for 3rd-5th graders.

As a reminder, we will dismiss school on Wednesday, October 28 at 12:30. Please be prepared to receive students early.

Thanks to everyone for helping make our morning carline go much faster. We know the 7:30 start puts families in a crunch, but with current NCDHHS guidelines we can't open earlier. We've added additional staff to our morning carline to keep the traffic flowing, and you can help by making sure your child puts on their mask and their bookbag around the time you reach the Wilkesboro Elementary sign. Parents can also help by having your signed attestation form up front and ready to show the staff. Thank you in advance for not passing in the morning carline. We appreciate your efforts to keep everyone safe and get their days off to a good start.

Wherever you are learning today, RISE and SHINE and have a great day! #WERise

Reminder that on Wednesday we dismiss at 12:30!

About Attendance

Parents, please note that since we have moved to Plan A, students who are participating in Plan A will be marked PRESENT or ABSENT. If your child is not in school, you will need to send in absence notes as usual and it will be coded as excused or unexcused. If your child is officially quarantined, those absences would be excused. If your child needs to be out, we will work with you to make sure your child doesn't get behind.

For students who continue with remote learning note that in order for us to count your child in attendance off site, we must on a daily basis verify that the student is engaged (completing and submitting assignments), on pace (participating in the virtual classroom), or receiving academic/emotional support (directly from the teacher). If this isn't happening, your child will be counted absent. Please make sure that your child is submitting work and that you are communicating with the teacher daily. Thanks in advance for your help!
