Registrations are now being taken for Blessings for Prom. The dream of founder Mandy Peterson is to make prom dreams come true for every girl in our community. This includes Austin High, Scottsburg High and Crothersville High students. Don’t let the fear of not being able to afford the dress of your dreams keep you from experiencing the night of your dreams. Attendees will receive a dress, shoes, jewelry, and a devotional. Over 600 dresses are currently available.
By registering, event coordinators can ensure they will have dresses and shoes in your size. Walk ins are welcome the day of the event, but no guarantees are made about availability of the correct sizes.
Fill out the event registration here by February 18: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdBUf3nLp_b6TnBQTaaEUk29j8N8SeqsTxuofnXVzbNIFNWtg/viewform
Support Pediatric Cancer
This game is being declared a “GOLD” out in support of pediatric cancer awareness and Bree’s Blessings. Gold is the color for Pediatric Cancer.
Coyle Chevrolet will also be donating $10 to Bree’s Blessings for EVERY 3 point shot hit during the Varsity game that EITHER team makes.
This is going to be such a fun night of basketball and awareness.
Bree is from Scottsburg and Jenni, Bree’s mom, attended Southwestern. Since Bree’s Blessings has an incredible amount of supporters from both school districts we thought this would be a great game to be involved with.
Please come out to support Bree’s Blessings and watch two great basketball teams battle for the win.
Help us fill every seat in the gym for this night!
National Assessment of Educational Progress
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Scottsburg High School will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on February 19th. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. The results are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public.
Your child may take an assessment in mathematics, reading, or science. In addition to subject area questions, NAEP survey questionnaires are voluntarily completed by students. Your child may also receive an extended questionnaire that takes up to 10 more minutes and asks additional contextual questions. The questionnaires help by providing valuable information about participating students’ educational experiences and opportunities to learn both in and out of the classroom. More information about NAEP survey questionnaires is available at https://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/parentsunder the section “What Questions Are on the Test?”
Assessments take about 120 minutes for most students, including transition time and directions.
The information collected is used for statistical purposes only.
- Your child’s grades will not be affected.
- Students may be excused for any reason, are not required to complete the assessment, and may skip any question.
- While the assessment is voluntary, NAEP depends on student participation to help policymakers improve education. However, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify me in writing by February 1st, 2019.
There is no need to study in preparation for NAEP, but please encourage your child to do his or her best. A brochure that explains what participation in NAEP means for you and your child is available at http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/pdf/parents/2012469.pdf. Contact Jacob Johanningsmeier at (812) 752-8927 or at firstname.lastname@example.org you have any questions.
We are excited that our school is participating in NAEP. We know that Scottsburg High School’s students will show what our nation’s students know and can do.
