Week of Dec. 17th
Principal Taylor Message
We are completing a very fast paced, rewarding first semester! I am proud, humbled, and happy to serve this community of scholars and educators every day. I believe we are the best middle school in Dallas ISD and I will say that to anyone, anytime and have a plethora of evidence to share :-)! Being the best is a compilation of results, heart, grit, growth, and collaboration and we have that and some!!
We have stretched ourselves and stepped outside of our comfort zone this term and we have stepped up to the challenge with grace and perseverance. Our scholars and their futures positively benefit.
I thank each of you for your commitment to our scholars these last days. Our scholars deserve none other than our absolute best and to have an optimal testing environment to allow them to show what they have learned this semester. Remember, your testing students are your students.
Although this is a high stake assessment, we foster a stress free environment. We do this by making sure we are on time, prepared, complete our tasks with excellence, and take a proactive stance.
Greet and maintain a welcoming attitude throughout the day! You never know what our scholars bring with them each day. We want to always add to their "bucket".

- Students are released at 12:20 pm. Staff have regular hours so we ensure that we close out the semester strong completing all our tasks. Several teams will be coming together during the week to celebrate.
Thank you in advance for maximizing the time we have after students leave for the day.
- Thursday is a teacher work day. Clock in time is 8:00 am.
ARSA Info
- Please remember to ensure that when we leave for Winter break that all areas are free of food. We don't want to create a buffet for our ARSA Ranger critters over break. Our "friends" have been known to get into file cabinets and drawers so please do not leave ANY food at school. Boxes mean nothing to them, they chew right through it.
- Empty any food you may have in a frig.

Spotlight on 6th Grade Team, Officer Williams, Sgt.Salter, Elective Teachers
Spotlight: 6th Grade Teachers and Ms. Linwood
From: Mrs. Coley
I pushed them (6th Grade Teachers) to the limit for the past 2 weeks and they went from 0 to 100 with every task I asked them to complete. Whether it was asking them for career day speakers, having them complete PGPs or asking for their continued patience and support with minor schedule changes, these 6th Grade teachers are to be commended for their dedication and efforts and hard work. Not once did they complain and they did it all with a smile. Special thanks to Ms. Linwood for being extra supportive and understanding during these super busy moments. It is truly an honor to work with this team daily.
Spotlight-Mr. Neault, Mrs. Gomez, Ms. Wilson, Ms. Williams, Coach Palma and Coach Wagers and Ms. J. Miller
From: Mrs. Coley
Special thanks to these elective teachers who walked the 6th grade hallway throughout the entire career day ensuring our students were behaving and relieving teachers as needed for breaks. They helped without hesitation...Thanks...You ROCK!!
Spotlight: Officer Williams and Sgt. Salters
From: Mrs. Coley
Thanks for agreeing without hesitation to speak to our students for Career Day!....You ROCK!!!
Spotlight on Mrs. Zapata
Shout out to my right hand, Mrs. Zapata! You are gracious, funny, and always there for me and everyone on this campus, that is a huge responsibility. You operate in the background even more than most realize. I truly thank you for the love that you put into whatever you put your hands on always making sure that people are taken care of. Hats off to you, Mrs. Zapata you are tremendous!!
Spotlight on ARSA Administration Team
Thankful everyday to stand with this team of exceptional leaders! Each adds exponential value to ARSA that is felt on many levels and truly are a driving force at ARSA. I am beyond appreciative of their heart for ARSA scholars and their commitment that they have for their future success. They are always working and pouring themselves into this community.
We are a solution oriented team and striving everyday to be better than we were yesterday. Thank you for all you do and always acting toward our VISION of BEING A FLAGSHIP MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Spotlight on Mrs. Quintana
I would like to highlight Mrs. Q! She is an awesome team member with a great heart and understanding. Not only is she my team mate, she is my friend. Q's passion for her students speaks volume at ARSA daily. Her leadership stands out without a doubt and I am very grateful to have a team mate with a heart of gold. Mrs. Q keeps me on my toes and her positive attitude day in and day out is such a pleasure to be around. She is a true lover of the great subject of SCIENCE and makes learning science very fun! #QRocks
Spotlight on ARSA Ranger Vannia Garcia
I would like highlight Vannia Garcia. She was one of the few students representing Dallas ISD this past weekend at All-Region. There are usually less than 30 participants from Dallas in a choir of 300, so this is very exciting!!! Here are a few photos from the evening.
Spotlight to Ms. K. Williams
Truly appreciate sharing the beautiful voices we have here at ARSA! You continue to support them building their confidence and spread cheer all throughout the building. You are always trying to showcase their talents and give them opportunities to know they can do it together and sound wonderful.
Thank you for continuing to build the Choir Program and building strong relationships with our scholars.
Spotlight on Front Office Team
I would like to spotlight the front office staff:( Zapata, Parada, Garcia) These ladies are always willing to help out even in emergency situations. They are gracious and pleasant with their responses when I am in need of help. They seem to find a way to help me solve the problem without hesitation. Thank you for your generosity.
Spotlight on ARSA!
Special thanks to everyone for your help during our annual Career Day. We especially appreciate the hard-work from ALL the office staff, Parent Volunteers, Ms. Zapata and Ms. Cardneas for ensuring our guest speakers were well cared for the ARSA way.
A very special thank you to all the teachers and staff who invited friends and family to attend this event and to all those who went above and beyond to make sure our scholars had a memorable time. We appreciate each of you!
Spotlight on Sped Team!
I have to shout out the entire Sped team! Last Monday they surprised me with a party. Marrying my husband was big, but knowing that my team cares about my life was HUGE. Not only that, I probably have asked EVERYONE on the team to help me with something at some point this semester and they always come through with a smile on their faces!
Special shout out to MS. BAKER who comes often to make sure I have everything I need to be successful in my position. And last but certainly not least I have to give a BIG kudos to my crew, Mrs. Carieno and Mr. Zoleman who help keep me and my class up and running! Thanks for all you guys do. And in the famous words of Mr. Clause, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!”
Mrs. Ahmed
Spotlight on Ms. A. Lewis and Mrs. Hawkins
Much appreciation to the two of you for always being there for the teachers! Truly thankful for your partnership with the administrative team as we collectively work diligently everyday, all day. You all have never said, "no we can't do that", but instead always help think through things and help with solutions. Of course, I always appreciate the bring levity that is always present with you two!
Thank you for taking on more this year and your contributions and diligence Is TRULY APPRECIATED and does not go unnoticed.
Spotlight on Ms. Grieb, Ms. J. Miller
I would like to spotlight Ms. Grieb and Ms. J. Miller for taking the time to bring their students into the library to learn proper research steps and skills as well as MLA 8 citation skills. These are skills that need to be taught in order to help our students get ready for high school and college. Students were engaged in research with our online resources and note taking to answer questions about topics. Ms. Grieb's classes that finished their group work in time posted their research on a class created Instagram. It was a joy to new skills being utilized.
Spotlight on Ms. Cardenas
You are always willing to support whatever is needed at ARSA. You make things happen way beyond what is asked and that is a phenomenal gift to ARSA. Thank you for your relentless commitment to our scholars, staff, and community.
