Function of the Nutrient

The esophagus, the, stomach, the small intestine, and the large intestine all work together to help the body use food.

The first step is in the mouth, where saliva helps break down the food, then there is the esophagus, which carries the food down into the stomach. Next is the stomach and small intestine, the stomach serves as the mixer and grinder of the food and that moves the food to the small intestine. The small intestine is were most nutrients are absorbed and the large intestine processes the waste.

Food Sources of the Nutrient

All foods can be digested.

Deficiencies and Excesses of Nutrient

If you eat more food than you actually should it can cause a delay for the stomach to empty and that is not very healthy.
