A reminders from the A.D.
Staff,
Now that we have entered the winter months – please remember that an extra pair of shoes needs to be brought to the fitness center to workout. Shoes that are worn outside can bring the sand, salt and snow into the fitness center and can cause damage to the equipment and facility. Thanks for your help on keeping this clean during winter!

Santa-n-Smiles 2017
Each business or individual/family who donates $20.00 or more will have their name printed on T-shirts that are being made. We will be wearing the shirts on our shopping trip as a way to advertise and thank you for your support. We are raising money through additional ways as well at the school such as hat day, candy cane sales, and a hot chocolate bar at lunchtime. Those activities will take place December 8th-15th. This will include a contest for the team that is able to raise the most funds. Teams will place loose change and the dollars from competitions into team specific milk jugs.
Our goal is to spend $100 on each person in the family and purchase necessities as well as a few fun items. The Middle School Student Council will be going shopping for presents, wrapping them and delivering them to the families.
In order for us to get the t-shirts made in a timely manner we are asking that anyone interested make their commitment by Friday, December 8th. This will allow us to get the names on the back of the shirts in time to go shopping. If donation is being made with a check, they can be made out to Faribault Middle School.
Thank you for your support. If you have questions please call our advisor Brent Hawkins at 333-6351.
Happy Holidays,
Faribault Middle School Student Council

Tenured Eval volunteers still needed
Don't be shy - show off your teaching talents!
I am still looking for five tenured staff members that are willing to be observed and evaluated. A short pre-observation form, a classroom observation, and a brief reflection/post-observation form are all that is required for this evaluation.
Please let me know if you are willing to take part.
Thank you.
Advisory Reminder:
Advisory is a place to build community through school connectedness, relationships, communication, academic support, future planning, and citizenship. Please remember that every Advisory period should start in circle. The circle is important for building your Advisory community. We will be sharing resources with you to help support you with circles. We realize this may be uncomfortable for some of you so please reach out to staff members that are more comfortable with circles to see how they do it. You can develop your own circle questions, have students come up with them, use the ones in the binder, or use this Google Doc of questions. We also wanted to share this article with you to help you understand the importance of circles.
Advisory should not be a study hall. Please make sure you are staying true to the Advisory purpose stated above and that you use the time for circles, relationship building, connectedness, grade checks, academic support, locker clean outs (see monthly calendar for dates), and home to school communication. Please see an Advisory committee member for support or questions.
Possible circle questions can be found at: https://docs.google.com/a/faribault.k12.mn.us/document/d/1aRr_NKP6wLDz13J5hHo48Pf7zmfQ8Guylr9KdGcUWsQ/edit?usp=sharing
iPad reminder
iPads:
We are no longer putting barcodes on the back of student iPads. Students are taking the barcodes off. This was a decision made by the Technology Committee, therefore we need a way to identify iPads. Back in September during Adviosry, students were to create a lock screen on their iPad using PicCollage. We are asking that you take time in Advisory this week to make sure ALL students have this done. Here are the instructions again for those who need to create theirs:
All students need to create a piccollage and set it as their lock screen. This lock screen needs to be set on your iPad at ALL times so your iPad can easily be identified. It has to have your FIRST and LAST name. This is a video on how to do it. Disregard some of it (like first day of school, etc.)

Here are the instruction slides again to show in Advisory:
If students do not have a lock screen please ask them to create one. We will put a message out on Schoology as well. If student iPad's are not identifiable the student will need to talk to an Administrator. Thank you for your help with this.
