A Message from Dr. Stone

Good evening!

So far it has been a great week at the Creek!

8th Grade Football is taking on Tays JH tonight at Tompkins HS and Volleyball takes on Seven Lakes JH tomorrow night. Come out and cheer our teams on to victory!

Regards,

Dr. Melinda Stone

Principal

WoodCreek Junior High

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders

Just a few reminders for parents about our drop off and pick up procedures for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal:

  • In the mornings, tutorials begin at 8:10am when the front doors open. Please drop off your student at the front of the school only, so that they can enter and go straight to their tutorial classroom.

  • Only those who have been issued a parking pass from either the nurse or from their band/orchestra director may park in the front lot during drop off or pick up. All others, please use the carpool line.

  • Please do not park in the gravel area on the other side of the fields to wait for your student. That area does not belong to the school, and parents parking there have created a safety issue for our walkers and bikers, with several of them having close calls of being hit by a car due to crowding and poor visibility. Please use the carpool line to pick up your student.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our arrival and dismissal times safe and efficient for everyone!

PARENT BOOK STUDY WITH WCJH COUNSELORS

The WCJH Counseling department will be hosting a Parent Book Study.

Teens today are forty percent less empathetic than they were thirty years ago, often with devastating consequences. In 'Unselfie', best selling author and parenting expert Dr. Michele Borba pinpoints the forces causing the empathy crisis and offers a revolutionary 9-step plan to help parents and educators cultivate empathy in children, from birth to young adulthood.

With age appropriate exercises and examples from years of research, Dr. Borba offers a framework that yields the results we all want: successful, happy kids who grow up to be kind, moral, courageous, and resilient adults.

Please join us as we explore ways to shift our children's focus from I, ME, and MINE to US, WE, and OURS.
