Out of State Travel & COVID-19 Information

We want to remind all families that there are state-imposed travel restrictions. Any family that travels out of state (with the exception of Vermont and Hawaii) must quarantine for fourteen (14) days from the date of return or produce a student's negative COVID-19 test result to the school nurse before returning to school.

Massachusetts has updated its COVID-19 travel order. Use the link to access the current information.

If a family does travel, a student in the hybrid learning model will not be able to join a remote class on his or her in-person day due to the increase in size of the remote class. Please contact Mr. Kessaris if you have any questions.

The city of Woburn is offering free COVID-19 tests to residents on Saturday, November 21st from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Showcase Cinema, located on Middlesex Canal Park Drive (off of Main Street by the Rt. 129 rotary). In addition, you can find COVID-19 Testing Sites in Massachusetts here.

Please also remember that all students must be administered an influenza immunization by December 31st per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Documentation of the immunization must be sent to the school nurse's office.

Thank you for helping to keep our schools safe!

SEL News: Spirit Day

The Woburn Public Schools is hosting Woburn Spirit Day on Tuesday, November 24th. All students (in-person, remote, and Virtual Academy) and staff are encourage to wear Woburn gear or Woburn colors (black and orange).

The character trait for November is RESPONSIBILITY. Here are some things we will focus on throughout the month to practice responsibility:

  • being accountable for our actions and behaviors
  • doing the right thing at the right time so others can depend on you
  • taking care of yourself, your property, and others
  • know what your job is and do it to the best of your ability
  • when you make a poor decision, (1) acknowledge it, (2) apologize for it, and (3) take steps to change it

News from the Music Department

Due to COVID-19, we will be unable to perform a holiday show at the school. Instead, elementary music teachers are inviting parents to participate in their child's music classes the week of December 14th. This will be an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have been learning throughout the year.

The Woburn Public Schools offers instrumental lessons to grade five students throughout the district. Please visit the WPS Instrumental Program site for more information.

Instead of closing school due to snow, the WPS will switch to a remote learning day. The schedule will follow the regular day's schedule (not the Wednesday schedule, as previously communicated). More information will be shared by staff as it becomes available. In the even of a "snow day," students and families should be prepared to access remote learning.

Support for Remote Learning

Remote learning can be challenging for students and families for different reasons. Mr. Dandrea has created a resource for families to address common issues that make remote learning difficult: Support for Remote Learning. Please contact the school if we can help in any way.

Remember these quick tips for remote learning classes:
  • set up a work area with only the items you need for class
  • keep any beverages or liquids away from your electronic devices
