A Message from Mrs. Lindsay
I hope this edition of the Winchester Weekly finds you all doing well.
Thank you once again to all of our families that made us feel so special this week for Teacher/Staff appreciation! I am sharing the video that our 5th grade students and families made that lightened our spirits and warmed our hearts! Click here to view! We are so grateful for your continued support and love!
It was great to spend an hour together with so many families on Thursday evening for the 5th grade virtual performance of Highway USA! I know the fifth graders have been working hard this year to prepare for this performance and while it was not a traditional concert, we spent the hour together enjoying music as a Winchester community. Thank you to all of our fifth grade families that spent the night with us celebrating our fifth graders! We are looking forward to spending a musical night with our third grade families on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:30 PM.
Please take a few minutes to complete the Leader in Me survey to provide us with important information to help us on our journey to being the best school community we can be. The link can be found in this newsletter.
Remember, we are here to support you and your child(ren). Please let us know if you need anything!
Thank you for your continued support, as we continue to work, teach, and learn from home.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our Winchester Moms!
Take care and be well,
Kelly Lindsay, Principal
The Leader in Me Parent Survey
As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school we are always working to understand how we can improve. Please complete the survey below as part of an annual assessment to help all members of the school community (students, parents, and the adults who work at the school) understand how we're doing. Your responses will provide us with important information to help us become even better. All of your responses are completely anonymous. The survey should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please try to respond to all items. Thank you!

Thank you in advance for your time,

Coping Calendar
Just a reminder...Winchester Playground is Closed
We completely understand that the Stay at Home order issued by our Governor during this challenging time is extremely difficult for you and our students, and that part of our being as humans is socializing with each other. As part of the order, Governor Whitmer has encouraged families and individuals to get outside, take walks, etc., but the order does not allow for large gatherings, or gatherings at parks and playgrounds, which includes on our school playgrounds.
In accordance with the Governor’s Stay Safe. Stay Home. Executive Order, and by Order of the Oakland County Health Division, Northville Public Schools has closed all of our school playgrounds and fields, including ALL play structures. Student safety and well being is at the forefront of all we do for our students both at Silver Springs and across Northville Public Schools. We are asking you to do everything you can to slow the spread. We appreciate your help in keeping each other safe and healthy.

COVID-19 Grading Procedures and Parent Supports NPS Families,
As we continue to move forward with new learning under the Continuity of Learning Plan, the following information will bring clarity around the question of grading during this time as well as the available technology and parent supports we have and will continue to put in place.
The NPS COVID-19 Grading Procedures, as published on April 15, 2020, are based on guidance provided in the Executive Order. We believe these grading practices provide students with the most flexibility while still ensuring that no child will be academically harmed as a result of the traditional model school closing required by law. Please contact your teacher or building principal if you have any questions about this grading procedure or need further information.
With the help of many NPS teachers, we have developed a parent learning portal that provides you with a variety of useful resources designed to support and assist you during this remote learning period. If you have any questions, or would like to submit a request for resource support, please navigate to the submit a question under the FAQ button found on the parent learning portal. We hope you find this helpful as you partner with us in this new learning process.

Grab-and-Go Breakfast and Lunch offered by Northville Public Schools
Northville Public Schools has been offering, and will continue to offer through the MDE waiver period, Food Service meals (breakfast and lunch) to all enrolled and non-enrolled students in the district. These meals, served under the Unanticipated School Closure – School Food Service Program (SFSP) program, are made available at no cost to anyone (18) and under, or up to age (26) if they receive special education services.
The meals are ‘grab-and-go’ breakfast and lunch, and are distributed from the lobby of Northville High School each Tuesday and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. At each visit on Tuesday, each student (or their parents/guardians) will receive meals for 3 days; while on Fridays, students may take both breakfast and lunch for 4 days, totalling meals provided 7 days per week. Breakfast meal components may include string cheese, fruit, grains such as a cereal bar, and drink. Lunch meal components may include deli meat sandwiches, vegetarian options such as cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, and milk.
